Grilled fish, fried rice... everything was unforgettable. 📍Day 2: Visit nearby attractions and experience the local culture. I left the city and went to some places around Zamboanga to learn more about the local customs and culture. 🌿 1. 🌳Tropical Rainforest Adventure: I joined a jungle trekking activity and was amazed by the wonders of nature. 2. 🚤Water Village Visit: I saw the local water life, and the river scenery was breathtaking. 3. 🦞Seafood Feast: I enjoyed a sumptuous seafood feast at a seaside restaurant, fresh and delicious! 4. 🎁Handicraft Market Shopping: In the afternoon, I went to the handicraft market and bought a lot of souvenirs! 📍Day 3: Enjoy the beach and prepare to return. Of course, the last day was spent on the beach! Fort Pilar has now been converted as a recreational park where you can relax and stroll around. Just feel the historic vibe of this place. Also, when you enter Fort Pilar you will notice that there some atrificats and antiques diplayed inside and this is because this place is used as a branch of the National Museum on the Philippines in Zamboanga City. When you think of Zamboanga City, you think of colorful vintas, Fort Pilar, Santa Cruz Islands and Hermosa Festival, but very rare would think of waterfalls. Unknown to many, there lies one of Mindanao’s most beautiful waterfalls – Merloquet Falls! Located in Barangay Sibulao, Merloquet Falls stands proud near the city’s boundary with Zamboanga Sibugay, approximately two hours away from downtown Zamboanga City. It is a two-tiered drop but its main attraction is the beautiful curtain waterfalls on its base, approximately 10-meter high and 15-meter wide stair-like wall to a shallow pool, definitely one-of-a-kind in the Philippines. The upper tier is a shorter drop and sloped diagonally, approximately 5-meter high and 10-meter wide. Merloquet Falls may fall short on grandeur compared with other waterfalls in Mindanao but its uniqueness is a charmer. There are a lot of enchanting falls in Mindanao though. Despite its exposure in the past years, this spot is still in its raw state, and less crowded and busy compared with other known waterfalls in the country. #holidayvacation Paseo del Mar is a great place to relax and enjoy the panoramic view of the sea and the nearby islands. The sunset here is amazing. It is open early morning for people who want to jog, walk or exercise but it is most active in the afternoon and at night. There are array of restaurants here and some offer live band music at night. Moreover, there is a dancing fountain in the vicinity. There are also sea gypsies on their boat catching people’s attention.
