The ancient village of Nuodeng is located in the deep mountains north of Yunlong County, Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. It is a Bai village with thousands of years of history. Buses depart every half hour from 7:10am, with the last bus at 4:30pm. The fare is approx. CNY 42, and the journey takes a little over 3 hrs. Upon arrival in Yunlong County, you can take a minivan or electric tricycle to Nuodeng. 🚎Internal Transportation: Visitors need to walk into the village, following the ancient stone paths and steps that wind through its various corners. This journey allows for a deeper immersion in the village's tranquility and rustic charm. If you have a lot of luggage, you can hire a mule to carry it up the mountain for a fee of CNY 20 per trip. You can ask the inn to help you contact a mule driver. Additionally, for the convenience of visitors, Nuodeng Scenic Area provides shuttle buses between the new visitor center, the rest pavilion, and the Nuodeng Ancient Village parking lot. The one-way route is approx. 2 km long. Visitors need to park their vehicles in the scenic area parking lot and take the shuttle bus to enter and exit the scenic area. The shuttle bus fare is CNY 5 per person for a one-way trip and CNY 8 per person for a round trip. While walking in Nuodeng Ancient Village, we passed by the Huang Xiachang Folk Art Collection Exhibition Hall and went in to find a friendly old man welcoming us. He introduced us to the traditional culture and architecture of the Bai ethnic group here. Nuodeng Village is a Bai village with a history of thousands of years. The residential buildings in the ancient town are built against the mountain and most of them were built during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. From a distance, the red bricks and black tiles dotted among the blue sky and green mountains are very pleasing to the eyes. The houses here are all built against the mountain, and there are up and down stairs to enter the village, so donkeys become the means of transportation. Nuodeng Village became widely known because of the program “A Bite of China”, and Nuodeng ham also became famous because of it. The reason why Nuodeng ham is so good is because the salt produced here is good. It is said that well salt is less salty and can keep the ham more fresh and fragrant. Although the condition of the national highway might not be very good, the scenery along the way is definitely worth it.
