The former site of the Central Red Army General Hospital was originally the Li Family Ancestral Hall, built in 1920. The building covers an area of 420 square meters, faces south, has a brick and wood structure, a hard gable roof, and is covered with tiles. The ancestral hall is divided into upper and lower halls, with a Patio, bucket beam frame.
In October 1931, the Central Red Army General Hospital was established in Chaling, Dinglong District, Xingguo County, under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Health of the First Red Army. Wang Lizhong, President of the Red Army General Hospital, Chen Ming, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Political Department of the hospital, and more than 350 medical staff and management staff in the hospital, including 50 members of the special nursing team responsible for the security of the hospital. The Red Army General Hospital has more than 200 beds and a 50 mA X-ray machine. The Xingguo county, district, and township Soviet governments often organized condolence teams, laundry teams, and propaganda teams to visit the sick and wounded in hospitals. Xingguo County's Workers' and Peasants' Drama Club and Blue Shirt Troupe have performed at the hospital many times. Although the Central Red Army General Hospital is poorly equipped and lacks medicines, due to careful treatment by the medical staff, more than 10,000 Red Army soldiers such as Xiao Ke, Chen Zhengren, Luo Ruiqing, Ouyang Qin, He Chang, and Li Shaojiu have recovered and returned to the front line. In April 1934, the Central Red Army General Hospital moved to Gangmian Township, Ruijin County. In October of the same year, it participated in the Long March. After arriving in northern Shaanxi, it was renamed the Red Army Rear Area Hospital and became the predecessor of the Eighth Route Army General Hospital and the People's Liberation Army General Hospital. It is a key cultural relic protection unit in Jiangxi Province.
