The Wushan Gorge Scenic Area is located in Longli County, Qiannan Prefecture, built along the Wushan Mountain with a superior geographical location, only 20 kilometers away from the city center of Guiyang, and is easily accessible. Unlike the bustling city, the 8-kilometer-long Wushan Gorge is characterized by overlapping peaks and the sound of flowing water. Chongqing Wushan | Four Days Three Nights Practical Guide
Last month I went to Chongqing Wushan for four days and three nights, with a total cost of about 1500 yuan. I found that Wushan is a place with few people and beautiful scenery. The grilled fish is very delicious, suitable for friends who like niche attractions. Here is my itinerary for reference.
Day One:
Take the high-speed train from Chongqing to Wushan, the fare is 200 yuan, and the journey takes two hours. Stay in the Quanji Hotel in the county town, clean and hygienic, you can see the river view, the price is more than 300 yuan (less than 200 per capita).
Visit Wushan Museum in the afternoon, where there are the earliest human fossils in China - Wushan Man fossils, and many treasures of the town hall.
In the evening, go to the pier to eat the most authentic Chongqing grilled fish Wushan grilled fish, the taste is super good, even I, a Guangdong person who doesn't like spicy food, can't stop eating, it can be said that it is the best grilled fish I have ever eaten.
After dinner, continue to take a boat at the pier to experience the Three Gorges Night Tour, the fare is 98 yuan, although the night view of the mountain city is not as atmospheric as Shanghai and Guangzhou, but combined with mountains and rivers, and clouds and fog, it is very dreamy and wonderful.
Day Two:
After breakfast at the hotel, go to the pier to take a boat to tour the Little Three Gorges, the fare is 120 yuan (including the ticket for the Little Little Three Gorges), the whole journey is 4 hours. This is one of the earliest 5A scenic spots in China, composed of Longmen Gorge, Ba Fog Gorge, and Dripping Green Gorge. The mountains and valleys along the way are crisscrossed, sometimes with flying waterfalls, sometimes with hanging coffins, and four hours passed unconsciously.
Return to the county town for lunch at noon, and then go to the Goddess Scenic Area. The Goddess Sky Road is very spectacular. You can see the Yangtze River winding from the foot to the distance. You can experience the artistic conception of the poem 'A lone sail is far away in the blue sky, only the Yangtze River flows to the end of the sky'.
After watching the sunset, stay in a homestay near the watchtower. The conditions are very good, spacious and clean, and dinner and breakfast are also eaten at the homestay.
Day Three:
Go to the watchtower in the morning to watch the sunrise of the Goddess Peak. If you are lucky, it will be very spectacular. Unfortunately, it was cloudy when we went there, but fortunately there was a sea of clouds, which was like a fairyland.
Leave the Goddess Sky Road scenic area and go to the Goddess Peak. Standing on the top of the mountain, you can overlook all the small mountains, which is very spectacular. If it is in mid to late November when the leaves are red, it will be more beautiful.
In the afternoon, take a boat to tour the Goddess Creek, watch the Goddess Peak up close, and stay in a homestay by the river. Dinner and breakfast are also eaten at the homestay.
Day Four:
Watch the sunrise of the Goddess Peak in the morning, and after breakfast, take a boat back to the county town, and then go to Dachang Ancient Town, and return in the afternoon.
If you have time, you can go to Xiaozhuang, a village that has been isolated from the world for a long time. When we went to Wushan, the road was closed due to continuous rain and road collapse, so we didn't go.

Wushan Mini Three Gorges

D2, arrive at Wushan Visitor Center at 10 o'clock in the morning and take the bus to Liuping to visit the Goddess Sky Road, about 40 minutes. Sightseeing car + Huangyan cable car ticket 75. The Goddess Sky Road from Liuping to Huangyan Visitor Center is a total of 12 kilometers. All the way through the colorful forest, you can enjoy Wuxia up close. The sightseeing car can stop at several important check-in points. After visiting the Goddess Sky Road, you arrive at the Huangyan Cableway, take the downhill cableway to check in at the Red Leaf Slope. Because Wushan city is very close to the scenic area, there are many accommodation resources, and it is cheaper to go directly to the hotel than to book online, and there are more choices. tips3: It's very cold in the morning, Wenfeng Guan is 700-1000 meters above sea level, and the Goddess Sky Road is about 1000 meters above sea level. Please be sure to bring an extra piece of clothing, just in case.
tips4: The red leaves are now at their best! Don't believe in the wait-and-see party, saying that the best viewing period for red leaves is not until mid-December. Maybe there are still some in Wenfeng Guan in mid-December, but the Goddess Scenic Area has already fallen off.

Wushan County 🇨🇳 Chongqing
Wushan County didn't appear in many reviews or tourist blogs, but it should!!!
It's easy to get to on the fast train from Chongqing and there are taxi's available at the station and in the town's.
First up we went on the tourist boat through the three gorges, it took just under 2 hours and the views were amazing. (I'd recommend a few cold bottles of water for the boat). The boat then arrives at Dachang ancient town, where you can get tasty local treats and relax by the water. The tourist boat returns quite quickly (15/20 mins). We managed to take the locals boat back to Wushan as we wanted to explore a bit longer.
Once back in Wushan town, there are so many choices, you can head to the mountain side temples, pagodas at the top of the peaks or grab a barrel of Pina colada, at what appeared to be the only non-ktv bar around.
We opted for the mountain top pagoda for sunset and a barrel of coconut cocktail 🍹

Chongqing Getaway: A secluded homestay on a cliff.

It's not an exaggeration to say that we only felt the beauty of Wushan Mountain at this homestay on the cliff.

🌈Scenic Features: Xiazhuang Village is located in Zhuxian Township, Wushan County. It is a magical village situated between the Pingding River and Houxi River in the upper reaches of the Small Three Gorges. Due to geological changes, the entire Xiazhuang Village forms a huge bucket shape, surrounded by steep cliffs. The lowest elevation at the bottom of the pit is only 200 meters, while the highest point along the edge reaches 1,350 meters. Looking down from the road at the edge of the cliff, the approximately 1,000 mu of farmland at the bottom of the pit appears as small as a palm, with over 90 households scattered around, and pedestrians looking like ants. It is very shocking.
In the past, the only connection between the people of Xiazhuang and the outside world was a hidden, winding path on the cliff, concealed among the thorns. People had to walk along this path, surrounded by cliffs, to enter or leave the village. Within the territory of Wushan County, Chongqing, there are the Lesser Three Gorges of the Daning River and the Mini Three Gorges of the Madu River. Yes, what we didn't expect was how reluctant we would be to leave this journey. Looking back now, the impact is still profound. We miss the unique scenery each day, the different gourmet food, and the varied programs... We all say 'time flies so fast, the trip feels so short,' to the point where on the last day we even wish the trip could be extended. For us who grew up by the Yangtze River, the river has always held an important place in our hearts. This time, we chose a luxurious cruise through the Three Gorges. Let's talk about our impressions first.
🔸【Overall Impressions】
1. Sailing experience: We didn't expect the cruise to be so quiet and stable, true to its all-electric propulsion. When we encountered other cruises or docked at the pier, we could hear the loud noise from the other ships and see their smoke upon departure, but our cruise was free from that (real experience).
2. Dining experience: Teacher Cheng said he felt like he gained several pounds on the cruise, haha. We discovered that the restaurant's cuisine was different every day, and they even included the 'Chongqing Flavor 360 Bowl' gourmet IP dishes created by the Chongqing Cultural and Tourism Committee, which were super abundant. We couldn't stop eating. A small detail that touched us was that the restaurant staff remembered our 'preferences' from the first day and always recommended dishes that suited our tastes.
3. Excursion experience: When going on excursions, we needed to swipe our room cards twice, which let the crew know if everyone had returned to the ship. This was a great feature, and we thought 'this is so suitable for parents, no need to worry too much, and it made me want to experience it again.' Also, before disembarking for each excursion, everyone was given bottled water, and upon returning to the cruise, we were greeted with hot towels to wipe our hands. If you felt too tired to visit the shore attractions, you could rest on the ship, where the onboard cinema would play movies.
4. Itinerary experience: We found the itinerary particularly rich, not only with shore excursions but also with the captain's welcome cocktail party and cultural performances on the cruise. Time seemed to fly by every day.
5. Accommodation experience: This time we stayed on the 6th floor of the cruise, and each room had a viewing balcony. At night, we watched the faintly visible mountains on both sides from the balcony, feeling the river breeze, and it was just too beautiful.
6. Other experiences: Besides these, we found that the ship also had KTV, a cinema, a children's play area, a book bar, and other areas to meet the needs of different groups of people. It's worth mentioning that you can also visit the cockpit, which is great for kids to learn something new. In August, there's even a summer parent-child voyage, which is fantastic.
Overall, we feel it's perfect for a family trip, and we will definitely bring our parents next time to experience the comfort and romance of a Three Gorges cruise journey.

Going up the mountain, I saw wildflowers all over the mountains, mist, and the bleating lambs sitting on the cliff rocks. Listening to Ryuichi Sakamoto at the wind vent on the cliff, the mountain breeze stirs the mist, enjoying a quiet moment
Arrival Service
For high-speed train/airplane arrivals, you can contact the homestay butler for a free pick-up service. Self-driving from the main city takes nearly 6h, which is a bit far. For those who are afraid of heights, it is recommended to park your car at the tourist center, contact the homestay driver to come and pick you up to the hotel. The last section of the road is in good condition but very steep and has sharp turns, with cliffs right beside it. The driver is very enthusiastic and friendly, a local resident, which is safer.
Overall Environment/
The scenery is really nice, with Wushan's mist, mountains, and the serene and romantic atmosphere of mountain living, very recommendable. There are a total of 18 rooms, with three types of rooms: mountain view/cliff view/villa suites, all of which feel very nice. There is a cafe with coffee/sparkling water/cocktails, and outside the cafe, there is a cliffside swimming pool, basking in the sun and feeling the natural rest is very comfortable~ There are also cute little lambs, bleating very sweetly, showing off the grass on the mountain
