Wrocław city break

Attractions - The City Museum of Wroclaw (Pałac Królewski we Wrocławiu)
Hotels - Hostel Wratislavia
Food & Restaurants - KRASNOLÓD, Folgujemy
I went to Wrocław, Poland 🇵🇱 I stayed there for 5 days for a casual city break. There were lovely dwarfs everywhere if you walk slowly so that you can find them. The ice cream, museum, and the coffee shop are also fantastic! Highly recommend the hostel I stayed.
Complex 01 in Hanoi
Past the entrance to the complex, you’ll find yourself in a courtyard surrounded by a 3-story U-shaped structure. The right wing is mainly occupied by offices of various companies, though the top floor is still currently empty save for a few simple chairs.
The left wing of the complex is reserved for food & beverage joints. Currently, there are only a few drink stalls available, though several others are setting up to move in.
The cafes and retaurans open into another courtyard on the second floor, which is equipped with plenty of tables for you to rest at and enjoy your drink after your photo session. An adjacent staircase leads to another seating area on the third floor, which, while still open with plenty of fresh air, has a roof for when it rains.

Dwarf hunting in Wroclaw
How do you make a city very attractive to young children? You place several hundred dwarfs spread over the entire territory. That is how the Polish city of Wroclaw reasoned and immediately they had a new tourist attraction. The 'dwarf hype' has now grown into a real quest through the city. You can even get a map at various souvenir shops and tourist offices.
Of course, the dwarves in Wroclaw owe their existence to the history of the city. By the 1980s, communism was still in power in Poland. In some cities, including Wroclaw, this was accompanied by fierce resistance. The Orange Alternative Movement was a nonviolent protest movement that stood out in a very special way. The members walked through Wroclaw dressed as dwarfs and also drew dwarfs through the streets. Of course there was nothing illegal about that. These absurd actions contributed to the fall of communism in Poland.
In 2001, a first statue of a dwarf was unveiled in memory of this heroic protest. 'Papa Dwarf' has now become a real hero and has been joined by more than 400 other dwarfs. You will undoubtedly encounter a lot of them during your citytrip to the Polish city of Wroclaw.

Beautiful Wrocław 🇵🇱
Wrocław is a city on the Oder River in western Poland.
If you want to have a feel of elegant town houses, gothic old town hall and cluster of Churches, Wrocław is where you should go. I have been to this City multiple times since I lived in Poland for a while but I can tell you, it’s always different each visits. The place is magical. You can just simply sit near the river and admire the pigeons around. You can also feed them with bread. They love it. The best time to go is anytime. It is simply perfect for every season. 🌸❤️
Wroclaw University Museum
The highlight of Wroclaw University Museum is two baroque halls dating back to the beginnings of the institution (18th century), when it was still a Jesuit academy. One of them has been completely destroyed in WWII and then painstakingly restored; the other one can be seen more or less in its original glory.
Other than that, you can see an exhibition of scientific instruments, some Greek sculptures, and the explanation of history of the institution, as well as climb a viewing tower. All attractions are in one building and buying a ticket for all of them vs. just the halls is just a 2 PLN difference (14 PLN in total), so I'd recommend seeing everything.
One additional note, one of the halls is currently undergoing renovation, so the visit is limited to a balcony overlooking it, but you can still see most of the decorations inside, so it's still worth it.

Botanical Garden of the University of Wroclaw
We took tram 9 from our hotel to get to the Botanic Garden (Ogrod botaniczny) and passed on our way the market hall at tram stop Hala Targowa.
We got off the tram at pl. Bema and followed the disappearing tram for 300 m to get to the entrance of the garden in H Sienkiewicsa 23. Normal entrance fee is 15 PLN but as pensioners we paid 10 PLN.
Just after paying up we turned to the right into an alley and its end round the corner we found Café Flora. We went there for a nice cup of coffee and a piece of lovely fruit tart. For the two of us it cost 36 PLN.
To the side of the café we found three or four greenhouses full of green plants. To an expert on plants it would be interesting.
When we visited, the garden was full of colours. The garden was smaller than we had anticipated so we had a nice walk around just short of an hour and left. Have a look at my photos to get an idea.

Japanese Garden
We visited the Japanese Gardens and were very impressed. Although not large, there is plenty spaces to 'lose yourself' and relax the rush of everyday living.
Beautifully designed peaceful garden to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. Tranquil seating areas, stunning views, many bridges and water features to admire. In order to enjoy the stunning grounds I’d allow 45 – 60 mins, however, if you’re rushing it can be done quickly in 30.
Wonderful place to get in touch with nature and view some amazing horticultural delights. Take a book and sit on one of the many rustic seats that surround the area, or marvel at the dragon flies that hover from one water lily to the next. Entrance fee is only 4 Zloty (less than £1)
The gardens are easily reached from the city centre by getting a tram (Nos 2, 4 or 10). Get off at the zoo and you're there.
Either before or after you've been to the gardens, go for a relaxing drink in the centennial hall restaurant which overlooks the fountains. This is also well worth doing.

Raclawice Panorama
Racławice Panorama is a hidden gem of Wroclaw. The painting stands in a circular fashion. It allows viewers to feel like they would be in the centre of battle. The battle was held during the Kościuszko Uprising when Kościuszko started his leadership in Cracow and was on the way up to Warsaw. The authors, who are Jan Styka, Ludwig Boller and Wojciech Kossak, used oils on canvas to create that masterpeace.
The painting is absolutely amazing, an enormous 15 by 114 meters canvas. Viewing the Panorama is full of splendour. The amount of the details is so big that even today 130 years after the creation it gives shivers when you at it. It’s made more realistic by the frontside which is prepared in the way to be spotted such as one greater whole. When you go up the stairs to panorama the first glance is breathtaking. You go there and you don’t exactly know what you are looking at. Is it a film, a 3D picture or something else? The best is that it is a painting.
When you visit Wroclaw the Panorama of the Battle of Racławice is one of the places you just need to see on your own. There are only a few panoramas like that one left in the world. Place definitely worth visiting.

Cathedral Island (Tumski Island)
This island is called the oldest part of Wroclaw. With the river Odra around in all direction is a beauty. I was there three times for seeing things I had missed the other times. One time I was there for visiting John The Baptist church. Took a little pray there for myself and bought tickets for walk up some stairs and use elevator so I could have a lovely view over the town and Ostrow Tumski how is the polish name of the island. Some calling it the cathedral island.
Another celebrated attraction on Ostrow Tumski is the Church of the Holy Cross.
Well-maintained, classical-styled houses belonging to the Archdiocese of Wroclaw litter the main street, ul. Katedralna.
Its a lot of beautiful buildings on the island.
Some saying its the best part of the town.
If You want more details then order a walking trip with a really expert on that it many guide who have a program there.

The Market Square of Wroclaw
The Market Square in Wroclaw is definitely worth a visit. It's in fact my favourite place to go to when I'm in the city. Most buildings in this area are picturesque and have some sort of an interesting background story. There are plenty of good restaurants and stores selling memorabilias. You can sightsee the Market Square by strolling along, riding a bike or an electric scooter, or going on a horse ride.
There are many ways to explore this gorgeous piece of the city.
However, I have to agree with the comments I've seen about the beggars - they make for one of the biggest downsides of the experience. Over the years the amount has awfully increased. Just as at the beginning you could ignore and walk past them, they've recently become more pushy than ever before. From time to time they even approach people while they're having dinner outdoors at a restaurant, so beware of this. Keep your belongings close and steer clear of sketchy individuals as much as possible - as soon as you spot one walking around with a rose in their hand, go the opposite way or any other that might have you avoid a possibly unfortunate situation.

This is the #zoo park of #wroclaw located in #poland and is also one of my favourite places there. There is an africarium hall which is extremely wet and hot because of the animals inside. Also there is an aquarium, terrarium and wide open space for bigger animals. The monkeys were very nice also. Don't skip this place if you go there.

For me Wroclaw is the most beautiful city in Poland. The only town I compare with it is Gdansk, hut Wroclaw is definitely number 1 in my hearth. The many islands that Oder river makes are amazing. The central square and the bridges around the town are so colorful and nice. #poland #wroclaw

Wroclaw Old Town 🏛️
#traveldiaries
Wroclaw’s Old Town was an absolute gem! 🌟 Walking through the cobbled streets of Rynek, the central Market Square, felt like stepping into a storybook. The colorful facades of the townhouses were so vibrant, especially with the beautiful Gothic Town Hall standing tall in the center. There’s no entrance fee to wander around and explore, which makes it perfect for leisurely strolls.
I loved spotting the charming Wroclaw dwarfs 🧙♂️—they’re hidden all over the place! Each one has a unique look and backstory, which made exploring even more fun. For a small fee, I visited the Wroclaw Cathedral in nearby Ostrów Tumski. It’s a peaceful area with picturesque views, especially when crossing the Tumski Bridge with its love locks.
The Old Town also has plenty of cozy cafés where you can relax and soak in the lively atmosphere. Don’t miss the panoramic view from the Mathematical Tower at the University of Wroclaw—it’s definitely worth the climb!
