Lord of the Ring filming location might have been mainly in New Zealand but even if they chose to film in it’s neighbouring country, Australia, they would find abundance of places just as good or maybe better in capturing the overall mood and essence of the movie. One such place is Mount Oberon Summit Walk in Wilsons Promontory National Park of South Gippsland. You can start from the Telegraph Saddle car park following the track of management vehicle to the top of the summit with bushes and tree branches in and out of the track creating beautiful pathway with stunning natural decoration along the way. #australiatrip Magnificent wide, shallow beach - about 200m from the dunes to the water at low-tide. A fair walk (1.2km) from the car-park. Brisk and bracing in winter, in summer much more tolerable, with one HUGE proviso: the march flies! An interesting and easy walk through coastal heath and scrub across a large swampy, basin to a remote beach. Lots of bird life along the way.

#australiatrip It’s a really great place to walk around and see native Australian animals - wallabies or kangaroos, wombats and emus. We did a short walk would say about 20 minutes one side. We were able to spot at least 30+ kangaroos in groups, 2 koalas and many birds like Hooded Plovers and red Cockatoos. The walk was very peaceful especially if you are coming from metro regions. It’s a Quiet and beautiful place.

#australiatrip Rewarding experience after a reasonably strenuous walk. Picturesque scenery. Absolutely one that you should consider. I’d suggest packing enough things to be able to get there and spend a few hours. The hike there and back can be a little exhausting as there is several steep sections, the track starts off with a longish incline however overall it’s a pretty cruisey hike to fairy cove and you can go At your own pace. Approximately 40 minutes walk from the nearest carpark along a windy bush track, you crest a mountain ridge to see the scenery from above.

Perfect summer outing on your way into the Wilson promontory national park. The white, pure sand resembles snow from a distance, and the squeaky sound adds to its charm. #australiatrip Beautiful lookout, and just a spot to take in and forget about everything. There is picnic bay about a 1.5km walk from whiskey bay, which makes for a great picnic spot on a nice day. Whisky bay is such a calm and beautiful bay. The sunset here was one of the best I’ve ever seen. Such a beautiful location and a 400m walk from the car park. This is a highly recommended place to visit. If you’re lucky enough you too could experience the sunset at Whisky Bay.

Went to Wilson promontory national park with my friend. This is the place for the people who enjoy away from urban life and get closer to nature. Located in south east part of Victoria, Australia. In Wilson promontory national park you’re able to encounter lots of wild animals, kangaroos, emu, wallaby, or wombats There’s few interesting spots in Wilson promon national park Swim at Norman Beach - just a few minutes' walk from Tidal River Campground, or go snorkelling for a unique underwater view of Victoria's largest marine national park. Bring the family and camp in comfort at Tidal River. Choose from powered or unpowered sites or stay in roofed accommodation. Scale the granite peaks of Mount Oberon for sky-high panoramic views over the sea and a majestic sunset. Mount Bishop is a great alternative. You can walk to the summit from the Lilly Pilly car park or take the side track while on the Lilly Pilly Circuit walk. #australiatrip A large sand dune at Wilsons prom - Big Drift - is Melbourne's best kept secret. The walk from the parking lot takes about 30 minutes. There is a steep section at the end of the walk. For better grip, step on visible footprints. Cap park has toilets. Photographers will find plenty of opportunities here. However, getting lost in the sand dunes is easy, so keep an eye out for the entrance. Carry snacks and water if you plan to spend some time here. The photos should look great around Sunset.

Approximately 40 minutes walk from the nearest carpark along a windy bush track, you crest a mountain ridge to see the scenery from above. The side is a short walk down hill along a series of steps. I visited after a storm and the sand had been washed away from the last step so was a bit step down. High tide will make it difficult to traverse the large boulders, and can be difficult to jump from rock to rock. Slightly dangerous if you're not paying attention.

#australiatripSeeing the National Park from the sea is incredible. The tour guides were so knowledgeable, stopped to allow us to view granite and cliff coastal landscapes and nature close up. We ventured out to the Lighthouse where we learnt so much about the incredible history Round how the convicts built it and we also heard some WW2 encounter stories with Japan and Germany. We came up and close to seals in their colonies and navigated around Skull Rock- an incredible sight and photos do not do justice to how amazing it is up close. There were ample opportunities to stop and take photos. I would recommend this cruise to anybody. The staff are professional, friendly, helpful and made the experience very enjoyable!

#australiatrip Great hike, it was enjoyable and interesting. The views are spectacular over Tidal River Campground, Squeaky Beach and Whisky Bay. At no point was it particularly steep or difficult, it took me about 1 hour up to the summit and that was with several stops to admire the scenery and wildlife, and to usher a tiger snake off the track. Would recommend hiking boots due to snakes and lots of rocks and tree roots, but it is doable in a good pair of runners. Just make sure they have good grip and you watch your step!

#australiatrip Its a beautiful beach sorrounded by rocks and mountains. Around 200mt from the car park this beach is easily accessible. If you are taking pram or stroller leave it just outside where the sandy area starts. It’s picturesque place not far from the wildlife watching area (5km away). You can easily change the swimwears at the rocks.. Highly recommend

#australiatrip Amazing views. Well worth the long and difficult walk. From a small carpark, which you may have to park along the side of the road, it’s a decent continuous grade hike for just over 4kms. There is a short rocky stair section at the end at the communication towers to make it to the summit, and a good place to catch your breath. Once at the summit there are two rocky areas to make the most of the spectacular views. The way down is much more relaxing as you return to the carpark. There are a few other hikes available from this carpark also, just be mindful of closures due to damage from severe weather on these other tracks.

Went on a spectacular flight with Promhelis. Steve is knowledgeable and provides an excellent safety briefing. felt safe in his hands. views are magnificent and the trip all the way down the west coast of The Prom and back up across Shallow Inlet was magic from start to finish.
