Embracing the Mystique of Rigi Kulm on a Gloomy Alpine Day
#europetrip #switzerland #lucerne #rigikulm
Our trip to Rigi Kulm on a cold, windy, and gloomy day was still an unforgettable experience. Starting from Lucerne, we enjoyed a scenic boat ride across the serene waters of Lake Lucerne, stopping at Vitznau to board the cogwheel train that took us up to the summit. Known as the "Queen of the Mountains," Rigi Kulm offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding Alps and lakes, even on cloudy days. Despite the chilly weather, the dramatic atmosphere added a unique charm to the journey. To make it even better, the entire trip, including the boat ride and cogwheel train, was free with our Swiss Travel Pass, making the adventure both memorable and budget-friendly
The Queen of the Mountains: A Journey to Mount Rigi
In central Switzerland, near the beautiful city of Lucerne, you'll find the 'Queen of the Mountains' ~ Mount Rigi. This mountain rises high above the surrounding lakes, offering breathtaking views of Switzerland, from the rolling hills in the north to the impressive peaks of the Alps in the south. Mount Rigi is a popular day-trip destination for visitors from all over Switzerland, and it's no surprise given its central location and excellent transportation connections. There are two cogwheel railways that lead to the summit, one departing from Vitznau on the shores of Lake Lucerne, and the other from Arth-Goldau on the Gotthard line. Arth-Goldau station has direct trains to Zurich, Basel, Lucerne, Locarno, and Milan, but you can only reach Vitznau by boat from Lucerne. Whichever route you choose, the journey to the top of Mount Rigi will be one of the highlights of your trip to Switzerland.

Transfer to Tram to Mount Rigi
#2024wish
Vitznau is a station whereby we will take the tram to reach the top of Mount Rigi. Before this, we took a cruise from the city to reach here. I love taking trams to reach mountain tops as you get to view the spectacular sight of the scenery as you slowly ascent. Thus, I was filled with excitement.
In 2024, I hope to have the chance to take tram again in another mountain.
Park Hotel Vitznau/Europe's aristocratic garden
Originally wanted to stay at a trendy hotel for Instagram check-ins, but accidentally booked this resort hotel Park Hotel Vitznau located next to the town of Fitznau, one of the top 10 resorts in Switzerland, because all the trendy hotels were fully booked. It is close to Mount Rigi and the town of Weggis, and I heard it is the backyard of European nobles. Can't believe I was pleasantly surprised by it.
Speaking of which, staying at Park Hotel Vitznau is simply amazing.
*This hotel is nestled in the Alps, with Lake Lucerne as its private swimming pool. Stepping out onto the windowsill of each room is like looking at a painting.
It is said to be the most favored Swiss resort hotel by European nobles. In addition to the Michelin two-star restaurant and the standard Maybach S shuttle in the hotel, there is also a separately charged caviar on the menu of the Michelin two-star restaurant, which is really extravagant. European ladies may start eating caviar for beauty in the morning. But my personal favorite is still the spa area of the hotel. The spa uses la prairie products, and the toothbrush and toothpaste are swisssmile. Molton Brown toiletries are also provided. The spa area features a hot spring infinity pool with views of the lake and snow-capped mountains, which I think is the largest private seawater aquarium in Switzerland, with various saunas, ice caves, and a resting area with stunning views.
Friends, if you're tired of seeing popular hotels like Honegg and Burgenstock, why not come to Park Hotel Vitznau for a different experience? It's really great!
