Barcelona | Palau de la Virreina: A Hidden Gem on Las Ramblas
#September2025
Many tourists rush through the bustling Las Ramblas and miss the Palacio de la Vizcaya, nestled quietly off to the side. This 18th-century Baroque palace, now a free contemporary art museum, is arguably the city center's most captivating cultural gem.
Enter the palace and you'll be captivated by its imposing exterior and elegant interior courtyard. It's not only a haven for historical architecture enthusiasts, but also a prime stop for contemporary art fans.
The museum boasts a rich rotating exhibition program covering photography, video, and social issues, ensuring a new surprise every time you visit. Beyond its rich artistic offerings, the Palacio de la Vizcaya is a vital showcase for Barcelona's traditional culture.
Every September, during the Feast of the Mercé, the palace's first floor showcases the unique "giants" and "puppets" of Barcelona's traditional festivals, allowing you to experience the city's history and passion up close.
Palacio della Verena enjoys convenient transportation access and is not only a great stopover for strolling along Las Ramblas, but can also be connected with the surrounding Boqueria Market or the Opera Café for a rich cultural journey.

Spent a beautiful day in Valladolid 🇪🇸
#summerdestinations
My day trip to Valladolid, Spain, was the perfect blend of history, culture, and relaxation! 🌞 Just a short train ride from Madrid, this charming city is rich in heritage, with stunning architecture at every turn. The first stop was the Plaza Mayor, one of the oldest main squares in Spain, with its vibrant red buildings and bustling atmosphere. From there, I wandered over to the National Sculpture Museum. The entrance fee was just 3 EUR, a bargain to see incredible works of art dating back to the Renaissance period. 🏛️ The detail in each sculpture was simply breathtaking.
Next, I visited the San Pablo Church, an architectural masterpiece that is hard to miss with its intricate facade and towering spires. 🌟 The interior is equally impressive, with beautiful altars and stained glass windows that caught the sunlight perfectly. After soaking in the history, I headed over to Campo Grande Park, a lush green oasis in the heart of the city. It was the perfect place to relax and watch the peacocks strut around. 🦚
Before leaving, I couldn't resist trying some local cuisine at a nearby tapas bar. The croquettes and Iberian ham were delicious, and the wine from the Ribera del Duero region was the perfect way to end the day. 🍷 Valladolid is a city that combines the past with the present effortlessly, making it a wonderful spot for a day trip. Whether you’re a history buff, an art lover, or just looking for a new place to explore, Valladolid won’t disappoint!
