On this self-drive trip, we traveled from Fukuoka to Yufuin, enjoying the beautiful natural scenery along the way. The roads were not crowded, making the drive very comfortable. However, traveling with children can be challenging due to the long distances, so it's best to plan a stop at an attraction to stretch and take a break. That's why we included a visit to the Kuju Natural Zoological Park midway. The zoo is easy to find, and the animals are mostly free-roaming in their natural habitats, not confined to cages. The best way to tour is by vehicle. You can either take the park's sightseeing bus to view and feed the animals or drive your own car through the park, but you must keep the windows closed. We chose the latter, so we'll have to wait until next time to see the lions and tigers up close. The park wasn't too crowded when we visited, so even with self-driving, there was no traffic congestion. After seeing the savannah animals, you can also visit the indoor salon to pet dogs or cats, and for an additional fee, feed the ponies. These activities are separate from the car tour but offer a full experience, and the kids had a lot of fun. Petting the cats is not highly recommended, as they were mostly sleeping, and we didn't want to disturb them; it's better to just watch from a distance. Because of the drizzle that day, kangaroos of all sizes crowded into the long, narrow tunnel (free of charge). Ponies and lambs are also available for feeding (for purchase). There were already over 20 cars lined up ahead of us, waiting to enter, and countless more cars were waiting behind us. Park admission didn't start until 9:00 AM, but fortunately, we had booked the animal car for 9:30 AM. We also learned this from previous experiences, so it's worth considering. We boarded the second car (the first was at 9:10 AM), and the moment we entered, we were both nervous and excited. The driver's introductions excited the other passengers, young and old, who were all excited. At each feeding area, a large group of animals swarmed in—antelopes, deer, bears, lions, elephants, camels, and more. Everyone's expressions, screams, and gestures were evident. We stayed in the animal car until 12:45 PM, feeding the animals and driving through the park. This was another joyful and surprising experience! As I stepped into the old Bungo Mori Roundhouse area, the view before me made me wonder if I had entered the world of anime 😌😌 1⃣️ The old Bungo Mori Roundhouse 🚂, surrounded by a small museum. At the center, there's now a white door from 'Suzume no Tojimari', and next to it, a broken-down figure of Sota. 2⃣️ Usa Shrine ⛩️, which covers a vast area. Walking through the forest in the middle, it becomes even more dazzling under the sunset glow. 3⃣️ The sunset at Matama Beach 🌇. I was incredibly lucky to witness such a beautiful sunset, marking the perfect end to the day's journey 😌
