Stop at Umikaji Terrace Before Your Flight
Senagajima Umikaji Terrace is a 15-minute drive from Naha Airport. This is an island resort that was born on a sloping land bordering the west coast of Senagajima Island in 2015.
Enter into a maze of white walls covered in vegetation with a magnificent view of the Okinawan beach, and even airplanes as they land at Naha airport.
If you loved the beaches here and know you’re gonna miss it——don’t worry, you can still enjoy them here! The beach in front of Umikaji terrace offers just as much corals, creatures, and seashells as the other places you might have visited during your trip.
There’s more than plenty of food here: you can dine mainly on local fruits, vegetables, and seafood, and you can also enjoy shopping for Okinawan accessories and clothes.
This makes it the perfect spot to enjoy the last—or beginning—of your Okinawa trip.
There are more than 40 restaurants and merchandise shops. Business hours are 10: 00-22: 00 except for some stores.

[Okinawa] Recommended spots you can go to without a car
Umikaji Terrace is a recommended spot in Okinawa without renting a car. You can get there by bus from Naha Airport for 250 yen. There are hotels and restaurants here, and since it's close to the airport, you can even see the planes!
As soon as we arrived at the airport, we went here with our suitcases and ate Okinawa's specialty taco rice on the restaurant's terrace! We went at a time when we could see the sunset, so we were very satisfied to be able to eat delicious taco rice while watching the beautiful view.

A Relaxing Trip to Senaga Island, Okinawa
Senaga Island is located in the southern part of Okinawa's main island. It is a charming small island that allows visitors to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy the beauty of nature and the charm of local culture.
From Naha city center, it takes about 30 minutes by bus or taxi to reach Senaga Island. There is a convenient shuttle bus on the island, making it easy for tourists to explore around.
Senaga Island is famous for its beautiful beaches. Walking on the fine white sand and listening to the sound of the waves hitting the shore is a very relaxing experience. We spent a pleasant afternoon here, with sunshine, beaches, and blue sea water, making us forget all our worries.
The island's Senagajima Onsen is one of the local specialties. The hot spring water here is said to help relieve muscle fatigue and promote blood circulation. We soaked in the hot spring for a while and felt much more relaxed. The hot spring facilities are complete and the environment is clean, making it an ideal place to relax.
There are many restaurants and cafes on Senaga Island offering local delicacies. We tasted Okinawan seafood dishes, with delicious sashimi and grilled fish that left a lasting impression. There are also local purple sweet potato desserts, with a delicate texture and unique taste, which are a must-try.
In the small shops on the island, we picked out some local handicrafts as souvenirs. These handicrafts are exquisite and full of Okinawan cultural characteristics, making them perfect gifts for friends and family.
The short trip to Senaga Island allowed us to experience a leisurely and comfortable lifestyle. The natural beauty and local culture here made us reluctant to leave. If you are looking for a place to relax and enjoy nature, Senaga Island is definitely your best choice.

OKINAWA
The beauty of Okinawa lies in its unique natural scenery and rich culture. The landscape created by the blue sea and white sandy beaches is like a painting, captivating visitors. The bright sunshine and warm climate throughout the seasons provide a pleasant stay.
Historical sites such as Shuri Castle convey the glory of the Ryukyu Kingdom and attract tourists. The people of Okinawa are kind, and traditional dances and music reflect the richness of the local culture. Delicious dishes such as sea grapes and Okinawa soba also offer a special taste.
The annual festivals are lively and provide unforgettable experiences for tourists. Okinawa fascinates visitors not only with its natural beauty but also with its deep cultural background.
Amazing Sunset View at Senaga, Tomigusuku, Okinawa
A great place to chill and relax during sunset and watching the flights landing.
Senaga Island’s white-washed buildings are evocative of a Mediterranean town, and are filled with a diverse array of cafes, restaurants, and boutiques. Relax in the island’s hot springs, or watch the sunset on this charming island only 15 minutes away from Naha Airport.
Senaga Island is compact, with a circumference of 1.5 kilometers. Senaga Island is connected to the main island by road, and visitors can reach the island by car, taxi, or bus. Driving leisurely around the island takes only five minutes.
[Okinawa] Tomigusuku City: Jump into the world of miniatures! A new hybrid entertainment park
Little Universe OKINAWA is located on the grounds of the shopping mall IIAS Okinawa Toyosaki, near Naha Airport in Tomigusuku City. This is Okinawa's newest spot, which opened in April 2024. It is an entertainment facility that combines the latest technologies such as digital spatial production, miniatures, and AR. Admission is 2,800 yen for adults. Okinawa residents can get a discount of 2,000 yen. An additional 1,500 yen will be charged for creating your own real avatar and 3D stamp. However, there is a discount campaign until January 31, 2025. A set of admission ticket + real avatar creation is 2,500 yen for adults. We purchased tickets as a set. When we passed through the entrance, we found spaces with various themes. The atmospheres of the spaces were completely different, such as the world of mirrors, the Ryukyu Dynasty area, and the retro Tokyo area, so we were able to enjoy each one fresh. Once you create your real avatar, you can enter this miniature world using your smartphone. The avatars can be easily controlled with a smartphone to walk, run, dance, etc., and can be recorded as they are or in photos and videos, so it was very interesting.
After the miniature world, we watched RYU-KYU Universe, where the scenery of Okinawa is projected in 360 degrees using projection mapping.
Okinawa's representative scenery was turned into a wonderful image using digital technology.
Once you have gone through all the areas, there is a souvenir corner, a kids' space, and a cafe where you can get light meals.
It is Okinawa's newest spot and is highly recommended!
I hope you will go and experience it for yourself.

Unpredictable Weather on Senaga Island
The weather was unpredictable in early October, with periods of bright sunshine followed by heavy rain. The only constant was the strong wind, possibly due to a typhoon. The sea wasn't very clear, but the colors of the sea and beach were still beautiful, with a light green hue. Being close to the airport, you can also see planes landing 🛬.
There are plenty of parking spaces, but be careful of the cats when parking ⚠️. They might even steal your food 🤣.
The buildings here are predominantly white, and each small shop has its own unique charm. We tried the taco rice this time and it was amazing. You can choose your own flavors, and I highly recommend the avocado flavor with meat sauce and turmeric rice!
We couldn't get a reservation for the Happiness Pancakes, and the line was very long. Fortunately, we registered for a waiting list, and after a short walk post-meal, it was our turn. The service was quick, and there was a minimum order. Personally, I found the egg flavor to be just okay, but the combination of muscat grapes and latte was delicious!
What to see under the scorching sun? | Senaga Island Observatory.
📍Address: Senaga Island
🏖️Environment/Facilities: There are shops, food and drinks, and people playing go-karts. The all-white buildings really resemble a mini Greece.
It was my last day of the trip. This spot is near the airport, so I went to see some planes. The scenery was nice but it was very hot. Even if you don't rent a car, you can still visit as the transportation is quite convenient.

The side facing the sea is lined with dozens of shops, divided into four floors, painted white and blue, a bit like Santorini. Each shop faces the sea, and you can sit leisurely under a parasol on a rattan chair, holding a special juice or a fragrant coffee, or a popular happy pancake, feeling like you have suddenly entered a long-lost movie scene.
It is very close to Naha Airport, and you can see planes landing and taking off at close range.
It is also a great place to watch the sunset. There is a hotel on the island with a superb sea view. You can soak in the hot spring and enjoy this cozy time.

Okinawa Navy Underground Park: WWII Site, Experience History
Navy Headquarters Underground Park (Navy Headquarters Underground Park, 海軍壕公園) is located in Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. It is a well-preserved WWII site.
This park was built on the underground bunker of the former Imperial Japanese Navy Headquarters. Due to its strategic importance, it became the command center for the Battle of Okinawa. The underground bunker consists of tunnels approximately 450 meters long, with command rooms, operation rooms, communication rooms, and more.
Visitors can tour these underground facilities to understand the living conditions and operational situations of wartime commanders. The park also features monuments and an exhibition hall that document this period of history, reminding people to cherish peace.
The Most Scenic Pancake Shop
If you visit Senaga Island, make sure to stop by Happy Pancake! You can enjoy fluffy pancakes while admiring the stunning seaside view!
This place is quite popular, so when you arrive, go get a number and wait for your turn to be seated. You can choose between indoor or outdoor seating. We opted for the outdoors because the view seemed nicer and the wait for a table was shorter, as most people prefer the indoors due to the hot and sunny weather. There's also an open-air terrace that feels incredibly chill!
Plus, their pancakes are genuinely delicious and very fluffy. 🥞

DMM Aquarium in Naha, Okinawa
Since one of the famous aquarium in Okinawa (Churaumi Aquarium) is very far from Naha City, I have decided to go to DMM aquarium instead. It took only 40mins from my hotel which locates in Tsubokawa St. by a local bus. The entry fee was ¥2,400. It’s almost the same price as Churaumi Aquarium. Not only fishes but also you can see some other animals like sloths, pelican, and turtles. There are also outlet shopping mall nearby and it’s also close to Umikaji Terrace.#dmmkariyushiaquarium #okinawatrip

Dinosaur BBQ Park
#okinawatrip Made reservations ahead of time expecting it to be busy on a Saturday. However, we’re “early risers” so there was only one other family when we arrived. Now that we’ve visited, it’s a little less confusing and we know what we will and won’t do next time as there are activities that cost additional outside of the entrance fee. The dinosaurs were our least favorite part. The inflatable maze wasn’t bad, I’m just too old (and out of shape) to be chasing my 5 year old around. And since it rained 2 days ago, there were still spots in the ball pit that were wet. Since she is under the age of 7, an adult had to be with her in the maze (additional 💴1000 for the both of us). Our favorite part was the indoor portion with all the bright lights and music. And the staff member who was in there today was so very nice and helpful. She assisted with making cotton candy and offered to take pictures of my daughter and I. The bathroom we used was also very clean. Will return, but will most likely skip all the outdoor activities and opt for the indoor portion. We may also eat while we are there depending on the price. There was nobody eating there today so I’m not sure if it was even open.
