Togtoh County: Experience the ancient charm and new style of the Yellow River.
Togtoh County, a charming place on the banks of the Yellow River, has always been on my travel list. Finally, I set foot on this land full of expectations and embarked on an unforgettable journey.
When I arrived in Togtoh County, the first thing I felt was its quiet and simple atmosphere. The county town is not big, but the streets are clean and the people's faces are full of enthusiasm and friendliness.
The first stop, I went straight to the Yellow River. Standing on the banks of the Yellow River, the surging river rushes past, and the majestic and magnificent momentum is thrilling. In the distance, the Yellow River Bridge spans it, connecting the land on both sides. I walked along the river bank, the breeze was blowing, and it was filled with the unique moist breath of the Yellow River. The farmland on the shore is endless, and the green crops sway gently in the breeze, as if telling the story of the harvest of this land.
Then, I visited the local famous Shenquan Ecological Tourism Scenic Area. Entering the scenic area, the first thing that comes into view is a lush scene, with green trees and lush flowers and plants. Take a cable car across the Yellow River, with the rolling Yellow River water under your feet, the feeling of excitement and novelty makes your heart beat faster. The spring water in the Shenquan in the scenic area is clear and bottomless, and it is said to have magical effects. I tasted a sip of spring water, which was cool and sweet, and refreshing.
Togtoh County also has rich historical and cultural relics. I came to Dongshengwei Ancient City. The ancient city wall has been eroded by wind and rain, but it still stands tall, as if telling people about the past glory. The bricks and stones on the city wall bear the traces of the years, and people can't help but think of the golden horses and iron horses of the year.
In the local farmhouse, I tasted authentic Togtoh cuisine. The stewed fish in Tuo County is fresh and tender, and the soup is rich, which is memorable; the fried cake is crispy and tender, sweet and delicious, and it is an indispensable delicacy for local festive holidays. There is also that sour porridge, the unique taste is impressive.
At night, I came to the square in the county town. It was very lively here. Some people were dancing square dances, some were walking leisurely, and children were playing and laughing. The surrounding snack stalls exuded a tempting aroma. I tasted grilled lamb skewers and special milk tea, feeling the warmth and comfort of this small town at night.
This trip to Togtoh County made me deeply appreciate its natural scenery, historical culture and simple folk customs. There is no hustle and bustle of the big city, but it has its own tranquility and charm. It is like a pearl hidden on the banks of the Yellow River, waiting for more people to discover its beauty.

The Kubuqi Desert Spring Ecotourism Area, severely underrated, offers a delightful experience with few visitors
The Kubuqi Desert is one of China's eight major deserts, spanning parts of Hangjin Banner, Dalad Banner, and Jungar Banner on the northern ridge of the Ordos Plateau. It stretches 400 kilometers long and 50 kilometers wide, covering an area of about 13,900 square kilometers. The sand dunes, ranging from 10 to 60 meters in height, with about 61% being shifting dunes, were once one of the sources of frequent sandstorms in northern China.
After more than 30 years of arduous sand control efforts, the ecological environment of the Kubuqi Desert has significantly improved. Each year, it prevents billions of tons of yellow sand from invading the Yellow River. The greening of one-third of China's seventh-largest desert earned the United Nations' Land for Life Award in 2015, and China's model of desert economy development has gained world recognition.
Standing here, every grain of fine sand is a gift from nature, as if standing firm against the vast sky. Feeling each particle of sand jump beneath one's toes, that immersive experience of becoming one with nature, is the true essence of a desert journey.
