Memories of Chichen Itza, Mexico.
It was a long-cherished dream to visit the Mayan ruins, and I am truly glad I did. The Castillo, dedicated to the supreme Mayan god Kukulkan, the wall carvings, and the ball court were all fascinating. The rituals of offering hearts, reflecting a different perspective on life and death compared to modern times, were particularly moving. It was a profound experience to see how human history varies so greatly across different eras. Although it's not an easy place to get to, I highly recommend it to history enthusiasts.
✱-----------------------------------------------
◆ Chichen Itza ◆ Located on Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, these are the ruins of the Mayan civilization. It was the largest city ruin of the Post-Classic Maya period (around 900-1100 AD) and was registered as a World Heritage Site in 1988.

Lifetime golden experience at Chichen Itza
Chichen Itza is a beautiful place, however the cost to enter the park should be added to the cost that is advertised. After book, $30 US dollar fee to enter the park. The National park itself was too hot. please wear light shirt or something more thin. Chichen Itza as we know is an ancient Maya city in Mexico that was abandoned in the 15th century. Now a UNESCO World Heritage-listed archaeological park, its intact temples, and famous stepped pyramids may be explored during this comprehensive guided tour, which tops off fun-filled history lessons with a visit to the colonial town of Valladolid and a swim in a sacred limestone waterhole. A savory buffet lunch is also included.
The lifetime experience was worth during my travel here. like people say ONCE IN A LIFETIME!! #chichenitza #mexico
Ik Kill Cenote - Cancun, Mexico
#passionpassport
The cenote is open to the sky with the water level about 26 metres (85 ft) below ground level. There is a carved stairway down to a swimming platform. The cenote is about 60 metres (200 ft) in diameter and about 50 metres (164 ft) deep. There are vines which reach from the opening all the way down to the water along with small waterfalls. There are black catfish which swim in the cenote. The cenote is part of a larger complex of a restaurant, store, changing rooms, and cottages for rent. There is also a Mayan ruin on the site. Entry fee is 5$. You can swim in cenote and there are showers inside. #passionpassport #beautifuldestinations
Chichén Itza Adventure
Getting There - I highly recommend taking a bus tour as it’s a long ride. The guides are extremely knowledgeable and entertaining. The bus will also stop a few places - such as a Mayan town and a Cenote to swim.
Attractions - The ruins of Chichén Itza
Hotels - Stay anywhere in Cancun and get the bus.
Food & Restaurants - Lunch will be provided after visiting Chichén Itza. It is included in the bud price. It was basically a buffet with tons of options . You can purchase drinks there for an extra fee.
Shopping - There are tons of cheap stands inside Chichén Itza if you want a souvenir. Prices are usually negotiable:)#naturalwonders #createwithtrip

The UNESCO site of Chichen Itza
#voyagevibes
This ancient ruins group has a lot of ruins on a huge site.
Even though I'm not familiar with history, I didn't get bored even if I spent half a day there.
I was really impressed by the detailed paintings and meticulously calculated buildings that were carved in an era when there was almost no technology or tools!
And there are many souvenir shops on the premises.
Everyone called out to me when I passed by, and they kept saying "almost free!!" but I'm sure they're lying! But I was happy because it was my first time negotiating the price and it went pretty well.

[Mexico] Bus tour departing from Cancun🇲🇽🚌
I booked a tour called "Excursión a Chichén Itzá, Cenote y Valladolid" on Viator and spent a day touring the following three places 🚌
✅Chichen Itza
A city ruin quietly standing in the jungle.
The capital was established by the Mayans who ruled the area in the 6th century, and huge structures such as pyramids were built.
The largest pyramid in the Mayan civilization, the Temple of Kukulkan, is located here.
In the mid-12th century, the capital was moved to Mayapan, and the town gradually declined.
Although it became a ruin in the 16th century,
the surrounding indigenous people worshiped and protected it as a sacred place.
Since then, the Mexican government has taken over and restored it, and in 1988 it was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
✅Gran Cenote
A cenote is a natural spring connected to an underwater cave in the limestone area underground on the Yucatan Peninsula.
Gran Cenote is the most popular cenote in Cancun.
If you bring your swimsuit, you can swim.
✅Valladolid
A lovely town lined with colonial-style buildings!
Certified as a "Pueblo Mágico (magical beautiful village)" by the Mexican Ministry of Tourism, it is attractive for its colorful and photogenic scenery.
The tour fee is US$56.00, and lunch is included!
*Chichen Itza entrance fee is required separately.
The guide is only available in English or Spanish, so it is a recommended tour for those who do not have language problems✨

Chichen Itza
Visiting Chichen Itza was an unforgettable experience at the heart of Mexican history. This archaeological site, considered one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, features the famous Kukulkan Pyramid. I wandered among the temples and inscriptions that tell the stories of the ancient Maya civilization. I marveled at the grandeur of the architecture and took a moment to enjoy the surrounding landscape, filled with dense trees and stunning nature. The atmosphere was filled with visitors who shared the same admiration for history. Visiting Chichen Itza was an opportunity to learn about ancient culture and explore its unique beauty.
Cancun: A treasure hunt through time.

You can sign up for a day tour for each attraction on Trip.com.

Tulum: A well-preserved seaside Mayan ancient city, not only with a strong historical atmosphere, but also a great place for photo ops.
Xcaret Park: A large ecological theme park that combines natural scenery, cultural performances, and water activities, suitable for family fun.
🏨Accommodation tips:
Cancun offers a wide range of accommodation options, from luxury all-inclusive resorts to budget hotels. The hotel zone (Zona Hotelera) is the most popular accommodation area, directly facing the beach.
If you want to experience more local culture, consider staying in downtown Cancun (Centro) or nearby Playa del Carmen.

For most tourists, a valid passport is required to enter Mexico, and citizens of some countries may enjoy visa-free or visa-on-arrival policies. It is recommended to check and confirm your visa requirements in advance.

Chichen Itza
Chichen Itza is one of the most important archaeological sites in Central America and a cultural heritage of the Maya civilization. The famous Kukulkan Pyramid is the focal point of the site with its astonishing geometric design and prominent inscriptions. Other structures on the site include temples, the Air Palace, and a sports ball stadium. Visitors can explore this dazzling Maya site and reflect on the way of life of this ancient civilization. Visiting Chichen Itza fills you with a sense of awe and discovery.
Maya의 도시 유적이 있음
I visited Chichen Itza in Mexico, and it was an amazing experience that took me back to the ancient Mayan civilization. The most striking landmark is the Pyramid of Kukulkan, which majestically rises in the middle of the site, reflecting the genius of Mayan architecture. I wandered among other archaeological structures like the Temple of the Warriors and the Great Ball Court, which are filled with ancient stories and history. I enjoyed the tour with a guide who shared fascinating details about ancient Mayan traditions and rituals. The atmosphere was filled with mystery and grandeur, especially when the color of the old stones changed. Visiting Chichen Itza was a rich cultural and educational experience that left a deep impression.
Mexico: An Underrated Yet Vibrant Country
When you think of pyramids, you might immediately think of Egyptian civilization or perhaps the Maya civilization. However, pyramids are not exclusive to these two cultures. In Mexico, a land filled with pyramids, the Teotihuacan civilization, which predates the Maya, had already begun constructing these magnificent structures...
-
[Teotihuacan Civilization]
☀️ Pyramid of the Sun: Located in the ancient city of Teotihuacan, it is one of the largest pyramids in the area, showcasing the grandeur and splendor of ancient civilizations.
🌙 Pyramid of the Moon: Also located in Teotihuacan, it stands alongside the Pyramid of the Sun, creating a unique landscape.
[Maya Civilization]
El Castillo in Chichen Itza: Known for its unique stepped shape and the light and shadow phenomenon during the equinoxes.
El Castillo in Tulum: Although it shares the same name as the one in Chichen Itza, this pyramid is situated on the coast, offering a quieter and more secluded experience, as if waiting for an unexpected visitor.
[Aztec Civilization]
Templo Mayor: Although destroyed by Spanish colonizers and not strictly a pyramid, it shares the totemic beliefs of Teotihuacan and the Maya. As a hidden gem, the architectural style and significance of the Aztec civilization cannot be overlooked.

My first Mayan experience - Chichen Itza
We stayed at #valladolid for the night and took the Collectivo at 8am to go to #ChichenItza to avoid the crowd from Cancun which usually arrives at 11am. It only took 45 mins and cost us Mex$40/pax. There are lockers for backpacks and luggages. Food from outside are not allowed, security will search your bag to make sure you are have no food in your bags. There are food stores in the Park selling food and beverages at a relatively reasonable price. I have to say my first Mayan civilization experience was very pleasant.
A nice boutique hotel with character @ Valladolid
A nice clean little boutique hotel with character at Valladolid. Just 20 mins walk from the bus station and Central Plaza. The entrance is a bit difficult to find though. The owner and all staff are friendly and helpful. An ideal place to stay for the night if you want to spend less time travelling to Chichen Itza the next morning and to beat the crowd that usually arrives from Cancun at 11ish. We took the van, Collectivo from #valladolid to #chichenitza at 8am and arrived there at 9ish, so had a good 2 hours before it got too crowded.
🇲🇽Chichen Itza - World Heritage Site🔝
🌟🌟 Chichen Itza - one of Mexico's most iconic archaeological sites. Granted World Heritage Site status in 1988 by UNESCO and more recently voted one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, Chichen Itza manages to enthrall even the most experienced traveller.
🚗 The drive to Chichen Itza took about 45 minutes, making it a convenient day trip destination from Valladolid.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by the grandeur of the ancient Mayan city. The main pyramid, El Castillo, stood tall and imposing against the azure sky. As we walked through the ruins, we learned about the Mayan calendar, the Ball Court, and the Temple of the Warriors, each more awe-inspiring than the last.
🔝🔝Kukulkan Pyramid:
The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the Kukulkan Pyramid, also known as El Castillo. We marveled at its unique architectural design, where during the equinoxes, shadows cast by the sun create the illusion of a descending serpent. It was a breathtaking sight and a testament to the Mayan civilization's advanced knowledge of astronomy.
📍Cenote Ik Kil:
After a morning of exploration, we made a refreshing stop at Cenote Ik Kil, a natural sinkhole. Its clear, emerald waters surrounded by lush vegetation were a welcome respite from the Yucatan's heat. We swam in the cenote's depths and appreciated its serene beauty.
✅Local Cuisine:
For lunch, we dined at a nearby restaurant, savoring traditional Yucatecan dishes like poc chuc and sopa de lima. The flavors were authentic and delicious, providing a taste of the region's culinary heritage.
↗️Before departing for Merida, we spent some time shopping for handmade crafts and souvenirs from local vendors near Chichen Itza. We picked up intricately carved Mayan figurines and vibrant textiles as mementos of our visit.
🔝🔝Our day trip to Chichen Itza was a captivating adventure filled with history, culture, and natural beauty. The site's ancient marvels, along with the tranquil cenote and delicious cuisine, made it a day we'll cherish forever. If you find yourself traveling through the Yucatan, a visit to Chichen Itza is an absolute must.

Chichen Itza: A Stairway to the Maya Calendar
"I hope he's not taking me to the top of the pyramid to appease the gods. Fortunately, the ancient Mayan tribes built Chichen Itza as a calendar rather than like their other pyramids, so I got away with it this time.
Although if I misbehave or ask for too many photos, I fear he might opt for the '55-meter deep cenote' option nearby ;)
In any case, Chichen Itza gets a thumbs-up for face control! It feels like one of the Seven Wonders of the World is calling, and it's a bit disappointing that they aren't building anything similarly grand nowadays. Or are they? What do you think, which of today's buildings/structures will people consider a wonder of the world in 300 years?"
📍Valladolid, Mexico
Valladolid is super cute, authentic, colorful and located only a couple hours away from Tulum.
🌴 You can easily drive to Chichen Itza from there
🌴 There are multiple cool cenotes located near Valladolid. We visited Cenote Ik Kili and Cenote Oxman (my absolute favorite)
🌴 The food is so good and much cheaper than in Tulum. Hotels are also very cheap compared to the touristy beach area. We stayed at @wayevalladolid and it was 5 times cheaper than our beachfront B&B in Tulum 🙈
Hope to see more authentic Mexican towns during my next visit to this beautiful country 💛
Chichen Itza -just wow!
chichen itza is everything you expect- mind blowing ruins, some restored, from the Mayan civilization. it’s worth paying for a guide to understand the significance of the buildings and the Mayan culture
Mind Blowing !!!
Definitely worth a visit. We stayed in Piste at the nice but inexpensive Hotel Puerto Chichen so we could be on site at opening. We parked in the small ruins car park for 80 pesos. Queues were forming when we arrived at 745 but once the gates opened it felt like we had the ruins to ourselves. Entrance fee was around 480 pesos per person - they take cards and pesos. Note you need to wear a mask to enter the site although no one kept their masks on once inside.
We didn’t take a guide but instead used a combination of the helpful displays and the internet to do a self guided tour. We enjoyed the freedom of being able to explore at our own pace. There are also plenty of traders but we found them to be fun and friendly and no hassle. The ruins are spectacular and worth a visit. We spent around 90 mins on site. #chichenitza #mexico #historicplace #ancient #history
Chichen Itza - a Wonder of the World
#gooutside and explore #mexico
❓ Did you know that Chichen Itza is one of the “New 7 Wonders of the World”?
ℹ️ One of the main reasons we went to the Yucatan Peninsula, was to visit this place. Chichen Itza is one of the “New 7 Wonders of the World” due to its large concentration of culturally-significant, ancient manmade wonders and is a must see.
Chichen Itza was founded by the Maya, an ancient people native to the Yucatan Peninsula built around 600-750 A.D. Today, the site is home to the remnants of many ancient Mayan structures, including the famous and most astonishing Mayan Ruin – the Chichen Itza Pyramid or El Castillo which dominates the landscape.
