The best part was driving — beautiful, empty roads, snowcapped mountains, and stunning views in every season. Nature was truly magical. People here are super chill — barefoot, no umbrellas, no makeup, no judgments. I rarely felt discriminated against. Even 10°C felt normal with just a light jacket. Second-hand stuff is common here. The air is so fresh. I even saw the Southern Lights near home. My English improved a lot. I avoided Thai groups and worked with Kiwis and Asians like Malaysians, Taiwanese, Chinese, and Indians — who became like family. I’m lucky to have met friends who cooked for me, worked 12-hour shifts but still chatted endlessly. Even hearing Chinese daily made me pick up some words. And of course, my life partner — we met during my first working holiday year in 2019. A Malaysian. It wasn’t easy at first — different cultures, languages, and visa situations. The correct way to enter is to park near the slaughterhouse and then walk. Climbing to the top of the rocks, the white waves surge beneath your feet. Fortunately, we even saw a lazy seal lying in a hollow. It seemed accustomed to the disturbance of tourists' cameras. As long as you don't get too close, it just lazily lifts its head for a glance and then continues to lie down, listening to the sound of the waves and the wind, and falls back into a peaceful sleep. Although you can see seals and there is no one guarding the area, tourists should remember to keep a proper distance from them and not disturb their daily lives. #cherryblossom2024 Trevor Griffiths Rose Garden is a garden with a collection of roses, located in Timaru, New Zealand. It is just beside the Caroline Bay Beach. According to the website, the park is spread over 10 acres and exhibits some of rarest and exquisite varieties of rose and is home to 1600 varieties of flowers. There is a small fountain pool and classical bronze figure forms the centerpiece. It would be nice to explore and stroll around the garden during spring to witness the roses bloom.
