Jatayu Earth centre is also popularly known as Jatayu rock. It is situated at Chadayamanglam in Kollam district of Kerala. One could reach at this giant 200 feet long, 150 feet wide and 70 feet high statue through cable cart. Getting There - By scooter, 2 hours ride from Varkala beach. Compulsory rope way costing around 595 INR for one person to reach upto the mountain. It’s almost 3 hours ride from Kollam as well. Attractions - The Sita Mandir is only open currently. Rest everything is closed due to maintenance. It was a pity that we couldn’t even go inside the museum. Parking cost- 10 INR for bikes, 50 INR for cars P.S- Only cash accepted for tickets. No digital money or cards were accepted.

Varkala Black Beach, North Cliff and South Cliff all have amazing views from most of the restaurants and resorts. This place is so clean and beautiful. Food is also delicious and staff are friendly. We went to ABBA, Tibetan restaurant at Hilltop, BLG Surf Bistro, Trattorias, lumuma, etc. There were a lot of Yoga places as well and I went to Aayana Yoga Studio, they were the best - I did Aerial Yoga, Hatha Yoga and Yin Yoga….they have the top notch instructors. This place was a perfect blend of nature, yoga and different cuisine - a very relaxing vacation spot.

I recently visited Kovalam, and it truly lives up to its reputation as one of India’s finest beach destinations. The scenic coastline, lively atmosphere, and warm hospitality make it a must-visit! Location & Accessibility: Kovalam is easily accessible from Trivandrum International Airport (10 km away). I took a prepaid taxi from the airport, and the drive was smooth, taking around 20-30 minutes. Tuk-tuks and rental scooters are also available for exploring the area. Beaches & Attractions: • Lighthouse Beach was my favorite – soft golden sand, clear blue waters, and an iconic lighthouse offering breathtaking panoramic views. • Hawah Beach is great for a quieter experience and watching fishermen at work. • Samudra Beach is more secluded, perfect for relaxation away from crowds. Food & Restaurants: Kovalam is a paradise for seafood lovers! I highly recommend trying Malabar prawn curry and Karimeen Pollichathu (grilled pearl spot fish) at local beachside shacks. There are also plenty of options for vegetarian and international cuisines. Accommodation: I stayed at leela , which offered great beachfront views, friendly staff, and clean rooms. Kovalam has everything from budget stays to luxury resorts, so there’s something for every traveler. At a distance of 4 km from Varkala Railway Station, Varkala Cliff is a red laterite cliff situated adjacent to the Arabian Sea in Varkala. It is one of the must-visit places during your Varkala Tour. Varkala Cliff is a famous beachfront which is a massive cluster of old times rock formations. Varkala Beach is the only place in southern Kerala where cliffs are found adjacent to the Arabian Sea. This 80 feet high red laterite cliff is unique as it is a veritable blueprint of geological changes from during the Mio-Pliocene age (1.3 to 25 million years ago). Its sedimentary geo-morphological structure bears evidence of unique geological features such as changes in the sea and soil structures and even has small fossils embedded in them. The unique feature of the Varkala cliff is that it appears as a dramatic horizon that is merging with the Arabian Sea. Papanasam Beach is divided into two parts -- North Cliff and South Cliff. North Cliff is the most happening part where you'll find most of the shops, restaurants, and accommodations. South cliff in Varkala, on the other hand, is quiet and untouched by tourism.
