Phra That Phanom is considered the birth year pagoda for those born in the year of the monkey and the birth day pagoda for those born on Sunday. According to legend, the creator was Phra Maha Kassapa, one of the 500 Arahants.
Phra That Phanom is enshrined at Wat Phra That Phanom Woramahawihan. Archaeological excavations have found that Phra That Phanom was built between 1200-1400 B.E. According to legend, the creators were Phra Maha Kassapa, one of the 500 Arahants, and the lords of various cities. Inside the pagoda are the relics of the Lord Buddha and many other valuables. Later, in 1942, it was elevated to the status of a first-class royal temple, the Woramahawihan type, and its name was changed to "Wat Phra That Phanom Woramahawihan". On August 11, 1975 at 19:38, Phra That Phanom collapsed completely due to its age and the continuous heavy rain and storms for several days. People from all over the country donated money. And the government rebuilt the pagoda according to the original model and completed it on March 23, 1979. At present, Phra That Phanom is a rectangular brick pagoda with beautiful patterns carved on the bricks. It has a base of 12.33 meters on each side and a height of 53.60 meters. On top of the pagoda is a golden umbrella weighing 110 kilograms and decorated with beautiful gems. Phra That Phanom is the pagoda for those born on Sunday and the pagoda for those born in the year of the monkey. It is believed that those who pay homage will receive merit and be respected.
