During our recent trip to Sicily, we spent a few unforgettable days in Taormina, and it completely won us over. Perched on a hillside overlooking the Ionian Sea, this charming town is full of history, culture, and postcard-perfect views. It’s the kind of place where every corner feels like a movie set – and there's plenty to explore. 🏛 What to See 1. Greek Theatre (Teatro Greco) One of the most famous landmarks in Taormina, this ancient amphitheatre offers not only a journey into the past but also one of the best views of Mount Etna and the coastline. A must-visit! 2. Piazza IX Aprile The main square of Taormina is lively, beautiful, and offers panoramic views over the sea. Lined with cafes and churches, it’s perfect for a relaxing break or a sunset photo. 3. Villa Comunale A peaceful public garden with shady paths, exotic plants, and stunning sea views. Great for a quiet walk away from the crowds. 4.Isola Bella This tiny island connected to the mainland by a narrow strip of beach is perfect for swimming or just enjoying the sun and scenery. Don’t forget your water shoes! 5.Chiesa di San Giuseppe A lovely Baroque church right in Piazza IX Aprile – small but elegant, and a perfect photo spot. 🍴 Where to Eat ▪︎ Ristorante La Buca - a cozy spot offering delicious Sicilian dishes, especially seafood. It’s tucked away just off the main street and has a warm, friendly atmosphere. ▪︎ Cinque Archi Ristorante For a more refined dinner, Cinque Archi delivers on both taste and presentation. The view is lovely, and the pistachio-based dishes are a highlight. 🛏 Where to Stay We stayed at A Coffa Rooms, a stylish and well-located guesthouse in the center of town. Taormina is perfect because of staying in this hotel. The hotel is located near the Grand Theater, three or two minutes away from the park, and the parking lot is also convenient. 15 euros a day, which is cheaper than many hotels. The hotel's invincible sea view is very good. The breakfast is rich, and the orange juice is freshly squeezed on the spot. It's delicious. The hotel's swimming pool is like a glass tank, which is very interesting. It's very enjoyable to watch the beautiful scenery and swim. A complete guide to Isola Bella can easily achieve a day trip around Milan 1 Depart from Milano Centrale Station to Stresa, which takes about 1h, with a round-trip ticket costing 17 euros. 2 Get off at Stresa, use Google Maps to locate Carciano, and you'll find the boat ticket office, with two options (a round-trip to Bella Island for 10 euros per person, or a three-island pass for 15 euros per person, which includes Madre, Pescatori, and Bella). Personally, I think the three-island pass is more cost-effective 3 Three-Island Pass Lido: Once you have the pass, look for boats with the Lido sign. They will take you to the first stop, Madre, then to Pescatori, and finally to Bella Island. (Note: For the return trip, you must also find a boat with the Lido sign) 4 Personal recommendation: Madre and Bella Islands are truly worth visiting. Madre Island has both a botanical garden and animals, great for photography. Pescatori Island is mostly for dining and shopping (recommend trying the grapefruit and lemon candies, 6 euros per pack). No need to say much about Bella Island!! If you want to get a good location a few minutes away form the main street of Toarnina without paying 500euro/night ! This is probably the best spot. The staff makes this place a 5 stars review. Big thanks to Mario and Antonella. She gave us great advice and make us save money on beach club . They can help you organize a lot of things on the area and they know all the tricks to save some money. The only little negative of the hotel is the fact that it's between to busy streets. The noise is not a issue but the smells of the gas on the patio... However try to find a view for that price... Lastly the room are a little old and you can hear your neighbors in the hallway. In front of the beach is the lovely little island of Isola Bella. The cable car station is just outside the city gate on Via Pirandello, and it only takes 3 minutes to get to the beach. Those who like hiking can also walk down the slope and stairs from the city center and reach the beach in about half an hour. Next to it is the famous small island Isola bella (Bella Island), which is a very unique view, especially when looking down from a high angle. The sea water is clear and the bottom is visible, the emerald green is dazzling. If you want to walk to Isola Bella, the only way is to take off your shoes and wade through the water. I chose to hike to Isola Bella and then take the cable car back to the city center. Recommended winter travel destination - Taormina! After taking the train to Taormina Railway Station, you need to take a taxi or bus up the mountain. The highlight of my visit was the ancient Greek Theater, where the stage frames a breathtaking panorama of the sea and Etna in the distance. Strolling along Corso Umberto, I soaked in the lively atmosphere before reaching Piazza IX Aprile, a square with stunning views and a perfect spot to pause.
