I recently took a road trip through the stunning landscapes of southern Iceland, and it was truly unforgettable. Starting from Reykjavik, I headed east along Route 1, also known as the Ring Road. The journey took me past some of the country’s most famous sights, including the breathtaking Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls. I hiked behind Seljalandsfoss, which was an incredible experience. Driving further, I passed by the black sand beach of Reynisfjara near Vik, with its dramatic basalt columns and crashing waves. The vast open spaces, glaciers, and volcanic fields felt like stepping into another world. I also stopped at the iconic Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, where massive icebergs float serenely in the blue waters. Seeing the sun set behind the icebergs was a highlight of the trip. The roads were easy to navigate, and the freedom to stop wherever I wanted made this road trip a perfect way to explore Iceland’s natural beauty. Despite the chilly weather, every view made the trip worthwhile!

The check-in counter was unmanned, so it was interesting to weigh it yourself, and the duty-free shop also sold the famous volcanic salt, so I took a picture!!

#familytrips2024 When you arrive Iceland, it is most likely you will land in Keflavik Airport. This is one of the country whereby my family and I are most excited to visit. Have heard so much about the country of ice and fire. It will be awesome to see this beautiful place for ourselves. Upon reaching, we were impressed by how organised and clean the airport is. There is also Bæjarins Beztu hot dogs sold at the airport, so grab one before leaving!
