Prasat Ling, which is a group of 3 small buildings that are important in water ceremonies, or Prasat Niang Khema, which some call Prasat Nang Khema/Niang Khmao or Prasat Nang Dam
Koh Ker has more than 180 ancient sites in an area of 81 square kilometers, but many parts are still affected by war and have many unexploded mines, so tourists or the general public can only visit about 24 places.
The inside of the castle in the part that is still complete, which we can walk inside. The stones that are built are not very high. And the stones are large and difficult to break down. And the area we walk on has been made into a wooden path, making it more convenient to walk. The coolness of the stones of this castle can be pressed against the face to cool down. The top of the door here is also a stack of stones. The doorway is not very wide.

Prasat Koh Keh, Cambodia
Koh Ker is a 10th-century temple complex in the north Cambodian jungle. A former capital of the Khmer Empire, the site is now remote and heavily forested. The main structure, Koh Ker Temple, is a stepped 7-tiered pyramid. The large rectangular tank, Rahal Baray, supplied water to the complex. The Prasat Krahom, meaning "red temple," is known for its sandstone carvings, while Prasat Pram is covered in strangler figs.
Koh Ker is 127km northeast of Siem Reap. Long one of Cambodia's most remote and inaccessible temple complexes, the opening of a toll road from Dam Dek (via Beng Mealea) put Koh Ker (pronounced ko-kayer) within striking distance of Siem Reap.
Prasat Pram: In The Possession of Jungle
#asiatrip
Prasat Pram, or Wheelchair Temple, on CoKer is another must-visit temple and one of the iconic photography spots in the area. This is a group of three square brick temples built on a common terrace, in front of which there are two buildings of the “library”, one of brick and one of laterite. This place is surrounded by a laterite wall with an entrance from the east.
The two brick towers are famous for the roots of the trees, which effectively covered the entire structure, creating a stunning sight and, as already mentioned, one of the most popular places for photographing and selfies in the Koh Ker island group. This is the first place on the route around the temples, and it is recommended to arrive here early to see the morning light and/or when leaving for the evening light to take the best photos. Cloud cover can also help to get a harmonious photo here.
Recent studies have not expanded the territory of the Ko Ker group in this direction, whereas they have significantly expanded it in the other three, especially in the east and North.
The monument is located 800 m approximately southwest of the ave. Nan Khmau, 3,500 km directly south of the southeast turn. from Rahal. It consists of a facade of three tall brick towers, aligned horizontally and oriented precisely to the east; this group is preceded by two intermediate buildings between the library and the prasat, one of brick in the south, the other of laterite in the north. The whole of it is enclosed in a laterite fence with a height of 48 m. more than 44 m, a barely marked rectangle and in an unusual sense. This unique enclosure is bounded from the east by a transverse terrace, which is the base of an easily built gopura, of which no other traces remain. There is a trapan to the southeast of the fence.
The towers on the outside are united by a common terrace and are supported by buffets, single in the side towers and, undoubtedly, double in the central tower. The basement terrace has steps to the right of the doors on the east side. The angle of the sandstone base looks to the northeast like a candid lotus profile, partially symmetrical around a strip of double thickness. The steps that stand out have simpler designs. The towers raise their exposed faces between the base in the form of a bay with five profiles and a cornice of the same type.

Prasat Prang: Cambodian Pyramid and Hidden Secrets
#asiatrip
Prasat Prang, a seven-stage pyramid, was built as a receptacle for the royal linga, the symbol of the god Shiva and the king as his representative on earth. This happened during the king's lifetime, and after his death, the pyramid was supposed to become his mausoleum, so it is called the pyramid of death. However, according to scientists, they did not find the grave of Jayavarman IV. And the name "Pyramid of Death" still stuck. Prasat Prang is located in ancient ruins of Koh Ker. This pyramid is most hilarious structure in Cambodia and probably in whole south Eastern Asia.
When tourists began to be allowed into Koh Ker, many tried to get inside out of curiosity. For many years, there were terrible rumors that strange phenomena were happening inside her. For a long time no one dared to get in, but finally there were daredevils who broke all the prohibitions and still got inside. According to their stories, there is an empty sarcophagus in the center of the pyramid. What conclusion can be drawn from this?
The Koh Ker pyramid of death was intended to become the posthumous haven of Jayavarman and (like Angkor Wat later) performed a double function – it was a temple of life during the reign of the king and was supposed to be the place of his transition from one plane of existence to another after death. According to the beliefs of the ancient Khmer, it is the seven steps of the pyramid that provide the king with the most favorable outcome for rebirth.
Despite the fact that mistakes in construction led to the rapid destruction of the pyramid, it is impossible not to admit the obvious things – some elements of the main temple of Prasat Thom served as an example for the construction of the most famous Khmer temple – Angkor Wat in Cambodia. We are talking about the famous long galleries. They first appeared here, in Koh Ker, then were tested during the construction of Bengal, and then appeared in all their glory in the design of Angkor Wat. And after seeing how Prasat Thom collapsed due to water erosion, the builders of Angkor Wat took this into account and made an additional embankment of sand and a unique engineering system for soil stabilization using groundwater.
Overall, it was most memorable travel expedition in Cambodia! No meter this location is far away from all other tourists spots and cities, but this is truly must see one!
Koh Ker: Most Mysterious Ruins in Cambodia, Step into Altetered Reality
#asiatrip
Koh Ker is one of the most unique and interesting sights of Cambodia, about which not much is known around the world. Everyone knows about the Khmer temple of Angkor Wat, and they can also remember about the multifaceted Bayon and tell you something about the jungles of Cambodia. It would seem that what else could be so interesting? Surprisingly, Cambodia is also a country that has its own pyramid, which is located in Koh Ker – the ancient city of Angkor, built in the early 10th century, at the dawn of the Khmer Empire. Koh Ker is a temple city and a huge temple complex in the province of Preah Viheah, 120 km northeast of Siem Reap in Cambodia. In ancient times it was called Lingapura, and was dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. This ancient city has a number of attractions, the main place of which is occupied by the mysterious pyramid of death Prasat Prang, located on the territory of the main temple of Prasat Thom. In addition to it, there are also many ruins of Khmer temples of the Angkor period – some of them are almost completely destroyed and unexplored. However, all of them are of considerable interest, since the Koh Ker era was a special one in the history of the Khmer Empire.
For a long time, the ancient city of Lingapura was forgotten, but with the beginning of the tourist boom in Cambodia and the clearing of mines from fields and jungles, Koh Ker also began to attract the attention of travelers, albeit not on a par with the famous Angkor Wat complex. Residents of the neighboring village of Koh Ker have lived here for centuries in the shadow of the great pyramid and led a very simple lifestyle, and now they accept tourists, asking them to take them as a guide to earn a little money. The name of this village gave the modern name to the ancient city.
The Koh Ker Temple complex is located near a small village of the same name in the province of Preah Viheah.
You can arrive in Koh Ker from Siem Reap in about 2 hours, but in general, an excursion to this distant temple of Angkor will take a whole day.

Koh Ker Temple Preah Vihear 🇰🇭
#2024wish
Visiting the Koh Ker Temple in Preah Vihear Province was an experience that left me brimming with excitement and admiration. The sheer grandeur of the ancient temple, coupled with its stunning location, made for an unforgettable journey. The artistry and construction of the temple were nothing short of extraordinary, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Cambodia. Every corner I turned revealed a new treasure, and I couldn't help but feel a deep sense of appreciation for the beauty and history that surrounded me.
Koh Ker Temple, situated in Preah Vihear province, has been recognized as a remarkable part of Cambodia's monumental heritage by UNESCO. Found in Srayong commune, Kulen district, Preah Vihear province, it is approximately 120 km away from Siem Reap. This temple is surrounded by dense jungle and is located in a sparsely populated area. Within an 81 square kilometer protected zone, over 180 sanctuaries have been discovered. Koh Ker is positioned amidst the Kulen and Dangrek mountains, offering picturesque views of rolling hills with varying heights ranging from 70 to 110 meters. These hills form the Steung Sen River watershed and create a gentle slope from South to North.
Cambodia is a destination that adds meaning and creates unforgettable memories for travelers. It is a place worth visiting to make your journey truly special. I plan to revisit this remarkable place in 2024. #ancienttemples #mytravelhacks #historicallandmarks #localguides #familytrip #kohkertemple

Koh Ker, Ancient city of khmer
#2024wish
I just had an enchanted day to visit the beauty temple on the way to Phras Vihea Temple. The pyramid-shaped temple, surrounded by a lot of big trees and thick rain forest, felt like we were going through ancient times.
Koh Ker, the capital of the Khmer Empire between 928 AD and 944 AD, is a lesser-known archaeological site located 120 km north-east of Siem Reap. It was once a bustling hub with over 10,000 inhabitants.
The site features a seven-tiered pyramid structure named Prang, which stands at 36 meters high. Visitors can enter through the imposing sandstone entrance pavilion and pass two laterite towers, now moss-covered ruins. The eastern side of the complex features meditation or prayer 'palaces' built for noble kings.
The western side of the complex is believed to be the state temple. A wooden staircase with handrails allows visitors to climb to all but the top tier. The seventh tier is believed to be where a plinth originally supported a four-meter-high linga honouring Hindu deity Shiva.
Due to the remoteness of the region, only a dozen ancient cities' 184 monuments are accessible to visitors. This makes Koh Ker feel like a secret, with fewer crowds and little tourist infrastructure.
To reach Koh Ker, arrange a private taxi from Siem Reap and drive 2.5 hours along scenic roads with cashew and banana plantations and rice fields. The Kulen mountain route can be combined with a visit to Koh Ker and Beng Mealea.
Inside the car park, there are restaurants, drink kiosks, and a few market stalls selling coconut drinks and souvenirs. There are no rest rooms at Koh Ker. Morning visits provide relief from the hot sun, and if combining with a visit to Beng Mealea, visit Koh Ker first to enjoy the cool weather.
During the quieter months of May to November, visitors can enjoy a more leisurely stroll around the site.
I would recommend visiting the temple if you want the most antique piece that will make you enchanted by its wonderful construction with art. #kohker #ancientarchitecture #oldestcity #mytravelhacks
