Tata is a historical town 9 km (6 mi) northwest of the county town Tatabanya. Visiting the environment is a nice day trip from Budapest. The main sites are the following: Castle next to the Old Lake, The Esterhazy Palace, Heroes' Square with World War I monument and synagogue, Kossuth Square with town hall, The parish church of Tata, The Capuchin church, Calvary Hill, Lookout tower, Water mills, The English park, Fenyes Bath. The Sopron Mountains is a low mountain range which forms the eastward extension of the Eastern Alps in Europe. It is part of the Alpokalja area of Hungary and also of the Burgenland. It is located close to the city of Sopron in western Hungary. The natural forest there includes beech, hornbeam, oak, and alder around streams. The spruce is the native pine species in this area. Sweet chestnut also grows here. Sopron offers lookout towers, the Park Forest, the Cyclamen nature trail, the first in Hungary, and the Student's Spring, the oldest known spring. The lookout towers are: Hubertus lookout tower, Magas Berci lookout tower, Beke lookout tower, Varhely lookout tower, Karoly lookout tower, Kophazi lookout tower, Gloriette lookout tower, Sorhazdombi lookout tower.
