2025 Sigulda Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in May)

After seeing everything in Riga, we did some research, and decided to take the train to Sigulda, only an hour away from Riga. Sigulda is a small town with around 17,000 inhabitants. It is located in the Vidzeme region in Latvia and 53 kilometres away from Riga. The town is overlooking the Gauja river valley and around the valley, there are multiple old castles and mansions. We walked around 20000 steps and saw different creeks, castle hills, Livonian castle and the new Sigulda castle. for our surprise there were easy to find nice and and tasty meals on our way. coffee was a bit pricey , but worth it. we enjoyed a half day I. this little town and would come back in autumn to see the seasons change. #sigulda #latvia #spring #walk

Rented **full gear + instructor** for **€80** – learned to ski like a pro in ~2 hours (joking 🤭) (add extra time for €5-10? Worth it!). The castle is synonymous with fairy tales and dreams. It has become one of the most beautiful buildings on the planet. Traveling to Europe to see the ancient castles is a beautiful experience. Latvia's most famous castle is the Tudar Castle in Sigulda. The best choice is to drive by yourself. When you open the mobile phone to navigate the map, the destination is a green with no margins. It turns out that it is National park. The 91-hectare Gaoya National Park is the largest national park in Latvia with a forest coverage rate of 47%. In the densely populated Latvia, the terrain is very special. The Gaoya River is in the rolling valleys. The mountains are not high, but the mountains are undulating, and most of them are covered by forests. The scenery is charming. This red brick castle has a long history and is the castle of the Bishop of Riga. In the 16th century, the castle was once very popular. Ascending the tower and looking around, the river is hidden, just like a paradise. The most valuable thing is to make a circle around the top of the tower. There is no dead angle in each window. The jungle extends far away and directly into the sky. Then follow the green road to the depths of the jungle. There is a carpet-like lawn, tall and tall birch forest, and a mirror-like small lake. Sometimes a maid wearing a hat apron can't help but ask. "Which year is this?" and sometimes "close encounters" with the welcoming team, seeing the new people use sewing needles for a lifetime; lucky invited to visit a farmer's garden, the smile of the old woman's kindly smile makes me I mistakenly thought that I entered the Wizard of Oz.

Sigulda is just an elegant river from Krimulda. Standing in the castle of the Livonian Knights in Sigulda (Fig. 1), you can look out over the distant Turaida Castle (Fig. 2). The Krimulda Historical Center has a very large and beautiful manor (Figure 3) that has been in existence for more than 130 years. There was once a castle built in the 13th century, and now there is only one wall left. The manor has a beautiful view, rich gardens, and now the forest is full of dyes, it is definitely a good place to take pictures. Janis Mikans is a very interesting uncle (Figure 4). He founded Cremon Winery in this estate ten years ago. He personally used the local cherries, raspberries, sea buckthorn and other fruits and plants to make 13 kinds of fruit wines, which are well known and even attracted four presidents to come to wine tasting. Unexpectedly, Uncle's winemaking technology is entirely self-taught through Google. The Gtmaala cave (Fig. 5) was formed about 350 million years ago. Such a large cave is not a whole stone, but a collection of numerous sands. It witnesses the passage of time and the changes of the earth. In the Gauja National Park (Fig. 6), the winding and elegant river flows through the endless forest. The elegant National Park in the fall is colourful and well-defined, and is a good place for hiking, cycling and camping (Figure 7 to Figure 9).
