🏔️ CONQUERING CIMA CAPI: THE MOST SPECTACULAR VIA FERRATA ON LAKE GARDA Breathtaking panoramas meet
🏔️ EPIC VIA FERRATA ADVENTURE: Conquering Cima Capi on Lake Garda!
Last September we tackled the Via Ferrata Susatti to Cima Capi and WOW - this is hands-down one of the most SPECTACULAR via ferratas on Lake Garda! 🤩 The views from up there will absolutely blow your mind!
Why Cima Capi is AMAZING 🌟
Starting from the charming village of Biacesa di Ledro (just 10 min from Riva del Garda), this route offers breathtaking 360° panoramas that'll have you stopping every few meters to soak it all in. To the east, the crystal-blue waters of Lake Garda sparkle below with Monte Baldo in the background. To the west, the lush Valle di Ledro stretches out beautifully. On clear days you can even spot the Adamello-Presanella peaks and the stunning Dolomiti di Brenta! 😍📸
The Experience 🧗♂️
This via ferrata strikes the PERFECT balance - it's thrilling but totally accessible! The route was completely refurbished in 2009, so all the cables and equipment are in excellent condition. The difficulty rating is EEA (Easy/Moderate), making it ideal for anyone with basic via ferrata experience who wants incredible scenery without extreme technical challenges.
Route Stats:
✅ Total distance: ~8 km circular
✅ Elevation gain: 500m (starting at 418m, summit at 909m)
✅ Duration: 3.5-4.5 hours total
✅ Approach: 1h15 through beautiful Mediterranean vegetation
✅ Via ferrata: 1h45 of pure adventure!
The ferrata itself follows the dramatic southern ridge with plenty of exposure (in the best way!), well-graded rock slabs, and natural holds. Even though it gets airy, you always feel secure thanks to the solid cable system. Plus, you'll discover WWI trenches and tunnels along the way - such a cool historical bonus! 🪖✨
September = PERFECTION 🍂☀️
Choosing September was brilliant! Unlike the scorching summer months when this south-facing route gets super hot, September gave us:
Perfect temps (15-25°C) - comfortable for the climb
Crystal clear skies with amazing visibility
Way fewer crowds than peak season
Beautiful autumn light that makes photos POP!
The route was challenging enough to feel accomplished but never overly strenuous. If you have reasonable fitness and basic ferrata skills, you'll love it! 💪

The Complete Circuit 🔄
After summiting Cima Capi, we descended via Ferrata Foletti - a shorter, easier equipped section perfect for the way down. Along the route we passed:
Bivacco Arcioni (858m) - great spot to rest and refuel
Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista - charming chapel with history
Beautiful beech forest on old military roads back to the village 🌲
