🇯🇵What to do in Yonago & Tottori? A collection of attractions and things to do!
It takes 1.5 hours by direct flight from Seoul to Yonago, and if you go there, you can travel to Tottori City next door. I will introduce the places I visited for 2 nights and 3 days!
1️⃣Conan Village (Yura Station)
This is Conan Village, created in Tottori, the hometown of Detective Conan's original author, Gosho Aoyama! Conan-related statues, manholes, memorial halls, shops, etc. are endlessly spread throughout the village where people actually live. A world of childlike innocence recommended to everyone who grew up with Conan since childhood!
2️⃣Misasa Onsen
Misasa Onsen Village is located near Kurayoshi Station, a little further from Yura Station. There are old, cozy ryokans and shopping streets along the river. The prices of the ryokans are good, and most of them serve local crab cuisine as kaiseki. 🦀
+ Shirakabe Dojo: I didn't have time to go, but the Shirakabe Dojo group, which is 20 minutes away, is a popular tourist attraction where old sake breweries are gathered!
3️⃣Tottori Sand Dunes
The high, wide desert that you would only see if you went to Morocco is spread out on the coast. They're called sand dunes! It's even prettier if you go around 5 o'clock when the sun sets. You can also ride the cable car, but the operating hours are short, so you have to check carefully. There's also a sand museum, but the theme changes every year, and it's closed from January to March to prepare for the next theme.
4️⃣Mizuki Shigeru Road (Sakaiminato Station)
This is a road commemorating the original creator of GeGeGe no Kitaro, Mizuki Shigeru.
It's a Japanese national yokai manga that has been serialized and animated since the 1960s, and its influence is said to be enormous. Even people who don't know can enjoy the bizarrely decorated town streets. There's also a nice hot spring hotel in front of the station.
5️⃣Chiyomusubi (Sakaiminato Station)
This is a sake brewery with 150 years of history located at the beginning of Mizuki Shigeru Road. You can tour it, and they sell delicious sake that's good for beginners, and they also run a sake bar. If you go, try "Sorah" that I enjoyed so much!
6️⃣If you go on a walking trip to Yonago & Tottori, you'll often take the train. Buy an ekiben at the station and eat it while sitting in the front seat of the train. The shimesaba bento, one of the local foods, was pretty good.
