Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Jul)
Pinnawala elephant orphanage was a highlight of mine. The elephants are well taken care of, they are for you to see and enjoy their daily habits and daily routine. One thing I didn’t expect was to see twin baby elephants. They were so naughty and playful and just nice to see.

Want to be in close contact with wild animals and fear of being hurt?
Want to touch the ivory but across the fence of the zoo?
Don't worry, the elephant orphanage in Pinnawela, Sri Lanka can satisfy your desire to observe at a close distance!
Here you can stand by the elephant and touch its rough skin and feed it to take a close look at it.
After bathing time, they will walk in groups and walk to the river to fight and roll. On the bank of the river, workers spray a cool river water on the elephants in the distance with a spray gun.
I met the first child in my trip at the Elephant Orphanage. She was hiding in her mothers arms. She looked at the elephants and watched the crowds around them. After the childrens mothers consent, they were Take a photo.
Tips
Nowadays, the Elephant Orphanage has become a must-see attraction for tourists visiting Sri Lanka. The Sri Lanka Wildlife Service has built the world's first Elephant Orphanage for the homeless elephant.
A paper company called "Maximos" has also been ignited. The company's business operation is "on-site material", which will turn waste into treasure, and process it into a canon. Paper.
Under the leadership of the driver, we came to the store selling the dung paper, where you can learn the production process. The plants in the picture are the food of elephants. The leaves of banana trees, coconut trees, jackfruit trees, etc. can be used as food for elephants.
After the process of burning, stirring, crushing, etc., a white pulp is formed. The latter process is the same as the papermaking of one of our four ancient inventions. The gauze is used for water, and the pulp is picked up before drying.
Paper products made of dung have been exported to Japan and Europe and the United States, and even some of the world's leading politicians have used these products. Visitors can also buy some exquisite notebooks made of dung paper as a souvenir or gift for friends, which is very commemorative. I bought a few postcards and sent them to the Pink Post Office. Also bought a notebook, leaving a commemoration.

Buddhist Monastry
amazing place and so nice to see they had a church, mosque and Hindu temple along with this Buddhist temple to reflect the diversity of sri lanka
the temple gives great views of the rest of the valley and for a top tip - visit, take a tuk tuk up the hill as it is a very steep climb (which we walked😂😂)
Another tip is to go in the morning to avoid the large heat
