Stepping Back in Time at the Ruins of Verulamium
#holidayitinerary Visiting the Ruins of the Roman city of Verulamium in St Albans felt like opening a time capsule from almost two thousand years ago. The site is a peaceful park today, but as you wander through, you can still see the remnants of Roman walls, mosaics, and the outline of ancient buildings. It is mind blowing to imagine this once being a bustling city in Roman Britain. The nearby Verulamium Museum adds depth to the visit with fascinating artifacts, coins, and pottery that bring history to life.
After exploring the ruins, I strolled into St Albans itself, a charming town with cobbled streets, independent cafes, and the beautiful St Albans Cathedral. It was the perfect blend of ancient history and modern charm, making the day both relaxing and enriching. I left with a deeper appreciation for how the past still shapes the present in subtle yet beautiful ways.
