Hassan Tower & Mausoleum of Mohammed V Rabat is home to one of Morocco’s most iconic landmarks, the Hassan Tower. Originally intended to be the tallest minaret in the world, it was left unfinished in the 12th century, but its massive red sandstone columns still stand as a reminder of its grand ambition. Nearby, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, with its intricate white marble and golden details, is a masterpiece of Moroccan architecture. The Modern Side of Rabat Unlike many Moroccan cities, Rabat has a modern and European feel, with wide boulevards, stylish cafés, and a well-developed tram system. The Marina along the Bou Regreg River is perfect for a sunset stroll, offering views of neighboring Salé and the kasbah. Final Thoughts Rabat may not be as chaotic as Fes or as touristy as Marrakesh, but it has its own elegance and charm. The first museum dedicated to photography, Morocco’s National Photography Museum, provides a space for young artists to express themselves. The museum showcases photography in a beautifully renovated 19th-century fort, complementing the artwork that hangs inside.

Riad Meftaha is located at 15 Rue Iran, Rabat 10000, Morocco, in the heart of the city Rabat, walking distance to the medina, the souks and the sea. Riad in Morocco is a large traditional house built around a central courtyard, often converted into guesthouses or hotels. Most of them have a rooftop terrace for you to view the surroundings. Around an authentic patio, Riad Meftaha had a large reception room where you also have your breakfast here. Local Morocco mint tea is served with cookies during check in . A rooftop terrace for you to relax and enjoy the sun. A 19 meter square queen sized bed room with air conditioner and a small TV. Bathroom amenities are provided and free WIFI access. Breakfast is included, the owner is a very nice girl, and recommends where to have my dinner and what to see around in rabat.

In the past, the banks of the Bouregreg river were a place of work for fishermen, games and outings for their inhabitants as well as service areas. Now a total length of 1.5 kilometers public quay will open during 2007. The banks of Rabat are now equipped with restaurants and cafes. People can walk, jog and cycle along the banks. Boats secure landing stages for crossing the river, or rental for a boat trip. Children's rides and fishing activities are also along the banks. Le Dhow is a high end ship restaurant station at the bank, not moving, where you can have your food and drink on the water. I had ordered a fried calamari, soup with prawns and squids, and an oreo shake at Marina Plam restaurant on the side of the bank. All are very nice.

The oldest current structure at the site is its main mosque construction in 1150. It is listed along with other sites in Rabat, as an UNESCO World Heritage Site, remains a popular free tourist attraction within Rabat, offering scenic views of Rabat waterfront. It is mostly occupied as a residential neighborhood known for its white and blue walls

Rabat old market is located at Rue des Consuls, Rabat, Morocco, it is around 550 meters and 7 min walk. Originally created in the 12th century by Andalusia Muslim refugees fleeing from Span, the old town grew in a vibrant urban area packed with traditional shops, cafes, restaurants, and stalls selling various type of traditional Moroccan goods are spread in the market. You will find dried foods, Moroccan spices, handmade tagine pottery, shirts and dress, leather goods, and many more. In this wonderful small market in the heart of the city of Rabat, visitors will be spoiled by the choice of goods in it.

Hassan Tower is located at Boulevard Mohamed Lyazidi, Rabat, Morocco, which was built in 1196. It was commissioned by Abu Yusuf Yaqub al-Mansur, the third Caliph of the Almohad Caliphate. The tower was intended to be the largest minaret in the world, and the mosque, if completed, would be the largest in the western muslim world. When Al-Mansur died in 1199, the construction of the mosque stopped. The mosque is strategically placed on the high south bank of the Bu Regreg river to provide a spectacle visible for miles around. Located across from the Hassan Tower, contains the tombs of the Moroccan King Mohammed V and his two sons, late king Hassan II and Prince Abdallah built in 1961 and completed in 1971. Hassan Tower was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2012 as part of Rabat, modern capital and historic city as shared heritage.

Le Diwan Rabat is a boutique hotel under the MGallery brand. As such, it's a sophisticated and comfortable property that you'd expect from that brand. The hotel is located a short 10 min walk from the main train station and another 15 mins away from Hassan Tower, so its location is quite good. The rooms were extremely spacious, especially when it was the suite. It really felt like a home away from home. It just felt quite comfortable and the presence of a separate dining area and living area (with another toilet) was a very nice added touch. There was a balcony in the room with lovely views of the city, especially at sunset. In room dining was also quite delicious and there was an assortment of Moroccan and international choices, all cooked perfectly. The hotel is however a bit dated but I find this adds to its overall charm and allure. You feel somewhat transported back to a bygone era. Further the balcony was a great added touch, but it did face a busy intersection and it could get noisy. Despite this, a lovely stay and highly recommend if you looking for a sort of boutique luxe.

Rabat is not always the first city that comes to mind when you think of Morocco, nonetheless the capital of the country is an interesting mix of the old and new and a great city to explore. Located on the meeting point between the river and the ocean, it makes for fantastic views. This is especially true when you head to the Kasbah and explore its winding streets. You'll eventually find yourself on a vantage point with panoramic views. The nearby Medina is also a great place to discover some cool hidden alleyways, while getting a taste of the older side of the city. Closer to the newer part of the city, Hassan tower is an unfinished mosque which is often associated with the city. It's a cool place to walk around and has an almost Egyptian feel to it. Overall, Rabat has much to offer; it's a clean city that is juxtaposed against the older charm of the more ancient parts of the city.
