India 🇮🇳 is a haven for solo backpackers. Immigration procedures in Delhi can be complicated, and being suddenly dropped off in a city with a lot of touts can be unsettling. As this was a solo female trip abroad, I entered through Bhubaneswar Airport rather than a major city like Delhi, Kolkata, or Mumbai, and started my trip in the town of Puri in Odisha. [Key Points] ⚠️Everyone needs a visa. Bhubaneswar Airport does not offer visas on arrival, so you need to apply online in advance! (It can be difficult, so we recommend getting one early!) ⚠️There are no direct flights to Bhubaneswar from Japan. There are direct flights from Bangkok, so a transit stop is required. ✅Because it's a small airport, the immigration line was only about 30 minutes. My fears weren't met, and I was able to enter the country without a hitch. ✅ Take Uber from Bhubaneswar to the town of Puri! ✅ Puri is a peaceful seaside town. Coastal fishing is thriving and the seafood is delicious. ✅ There's a Japanese inn called Santana, where you can get information from various people traveling in India! I'd heard the sea was dirty, but it was clean enough to swim in! Above all, the town has a laid-back atmosphere. Early in the morning, coastal fishing boats set out all at once, and in the evening you can get a glimpse of the lives of the fishermen who return and sell fish by the roadside. #besttrip2023 I stayed here for about 10 days from late September 2023. The hotel is "Gandhara". The first photo is the view from the roof of the hotel. The second photo is a sunny corridor. The third photo is a comfortable pool. The fourth photo is a breakfast omelette (also comes with toast, butter, jam, and fresh juice). The fifth and sixth photos are the toilet and bedroom. The seventh and eighth photos are a cafe about a 2-minute walk from the hotel. It's very stylish and delicious. And the ninth photo is the beach. The owner of the hotel is Indian, but he is fluent in Japanese. He is also very helpful and willing to help you with any questions you may have. As you can see in the photo, you can hang out your laundry in the corridor, and the ventilation is very good, so I sat at the desk and read a book. However, there are still a lot of mosquitoes, so I lit a mosquito coil. It's a very relaxing hotel. You can also eat cheap and delicious food at the restaurant in the hotel. The beach is just 5 minutes away. Just sitting on the beach was pleasant. The 7th and 8th pictures show the cafe, which had many different types of rooms, which was also fun. The owner's wife is Japanese, so everyone was very friendly towards Japan. For those who like alcohol. There are no photos, but there is a bar right in front of the hotel. It's in the basement. I was able to relax and have a drink.

TODAY, I SPENT TIME TO FINALLY STOP AND SEE, SMELL AND FEEL NEW FLOWERS BLOSSOM. I've been staying indoors all day. For days, I haven't gone out of my room that much. It's been an emotionally and mentally trying times. Because of this pandemic, to me the world seems to be too overwhelming. Plus this very real pain of homesickness — oh how I miss my family, friends and colleagues back home! And so today, for half an hour or so, I spent time to finally stop and see, smell and feel new flowers blossom. I saw beautiful flowers of different colors around the green lush growth of trees, ferns, and shrubs. Ah, life in nature! The trees and plants on campus supply rich fresh air with cool spring breeze making a friendly environment day and night. It seems that it's God’s way of a reminder that "hey, I am here buddy!" Even if worrying feels like the only thing in the world right now, I know that eventually difficult times do pass. Afterall, despite the lockdown, we should all live like it's spring.
