EXPLORING THE NATIONAL ART GALLERY
Last week my mother came to visit me in Mauritius and just before she left to come back in Switzerland I took the opportunity to visit the Mauritius Glass Gallery to buy a gift for my brother: the famous glass of Phoenix, the most famous local beer in Mauritius.
The Mauritius Glass gallery is located in Phoenix, a town in the Plaines Wilhems district, the central part of the island. The island is not big so whether you are in the north, south, east or west you will always arrive at the big roundabout of Phoenix and you will immediately realize that you almost arrived because there is always traffic there (I advise you to avoid rush hours because the road is literally BLOCKED). Once you arrive at the roundabout, you will see the huge building of the Phoenix Beverages, at that point follow the road signs to go south (The South / Curepipe) immediately after leaving the roundabout, you should take the second street on your left where you will notice already marked MGG (Mauritius Glass Gallery).

RED ROOF CHAPEL
completely different from the numerous temples in Mauritius— is the infamous Notre Dame Auxiliatrice Chuch (aka: the Red Roof Chapel) located on the northern tip of the island. The Roman Catholic church is located right by to ocean, and the contrast of the red roof and blue waters make for a very picturesque spot to visit.
Hinduism is the most popular religion in Mauritius— giving the country the highest percentage of Hindus in all of Africa. The bright, bold colors, ornate details, and rich cultural significance of this temple makes it a must-see to better understand Mauritian culture and appreciate the faith and dedication of Hindus on the island.

SEVEN COLORED EARTH
This natural phenomenon is one of the most popular tourist attractions on the island! The broken down elements from volcanic rock have separated and formed these amazingly colorful mounds! The 7 colors represented here are easy to distinguish and people travel from all over the world to experience this unique place.
Live life like a local and wander the streets of Downtown Port Louis— Mauritius’ capital city! Experience the hustle + bustle of the markets, order a sugar cane juice, and walk over to the waterfront for a gorgeous view of the city against the turquoise blue waters!

Mauritius is a must-visit! Not every island is visa-free.
Africa is not just about the savannah. It is also home to the "original paradise" described by Mark Twain, Mauritius, the pearl of the Indian Ocean.
This is one of the most popular island resorts for Westerners. It is no exaggeration to say that it is comparable to Hawaii. On this subtropical island, you can not only enjoy the unique beauty of the underwater waterfall in Mauritius, but also follow the dolphins and enjoy a romantic vacation with blue waters and white sand beaches.
In addition, Mauritius is visa-free for Chinese citizens. You can travel smoothly with just a passport and no complicated procedures. The price is not expensive compared to other high-end islands. You can enjoy a high-end island at a mid-range price, which is very cost-effective!
7 days and 5 nights in Mauritius:

A piece of China in Mauritius 🇲🇺
At the foot of Signal Mountain, in the capital city of Port Louis, Thien Thane Pagoda is regarded as a replica of the famous Temple of Heaven in Beijing. There are no statues inside, but an altar for offerings from people.
The pagoda is a tad far from downtown Port Louis which makes travelling by car is a more convenient option 🚗 While there’s no entrance fee, a modest outfit is expected from visitors.

Port Louis
Port Louis, located on the northwest coast of Mauritius, is not only the political, cultural and economic center of the country, but also the largest seaport. It was established in 1735 and has an important strategic position. It is the only gateway for the country's import and export goods. In addition, Port Louis is also a free port with busy trade activities, with an annual throughput of more than 3 million tons.

Located on the northwest coast of Mauritius Island, Port Louis is not only the political, cultural and economic center of the country, but also the capital of Mauritius. People who come to Maoqiu will visit the Qidan Square in Port Louis. This is the downtown area of Port Louis. Although it is called the square, it is really not big. However, the prices of L'Occitane and Pandora are indeed very strong. There are also some local specialty shops, tea, postcards, Dodo ornaments, etc., buy handwritten letters and the like, here you can get one step.

Fortress Hill is an iconic attraction in the Port of Mauritius, the capital of Mauritius, overlooking the panoramic view of Port Louis. Next to Fortress Hill is a racecourse with a traditional British style. Different castles have been built on the
Fortress Hill. These castles have a long history and are atmospheric, and are the gem-level ruins of Mauritius! One of the fortresses was named Adelaide Castle. The main purpose of the construction was to prevent the rebellious movement aimed at overthrowing slavery at that time. It has a history of more than 180 years.

When I arrived in the beautiful capital of Mauritius, the impression of Mauritius was completely different. The streets are full of old buildings and a strong French style. Even the presence of Chinatown is seen, giving us a feeling of being at home.
Port Louis was founded in 1735 on the northwest coast of Mauritius. It is not only the political, cultural and economic center of the country, but also the largest seaport with an annual throughput of more than 3 million tons. There are Western-style parliament buildings, city halls, Arab-style mosques, Indian temples and Chinese-style temples.
I heard that many things in Mauritius have to be shipped from outside, but the prices here are not particularly expensive. Moreover, Port Louis is the port of the cruise ship, and it is doomed to be lack of production.
We passed a long-awaited vegetable market, where the black and white tiles and the red meat on the table are commensurate with an indescribable beauty.

The port of Louis in the north is Mauritius's largest city and seaport, and of course the political, economic, cultural and transportation center of Mauritius. We first arrived at the commanding heights of Port Louis, the William Fort, which is on a hill facing the port. Although the terrain is not high, it is just the most important position. Standing on the fort, you can overlook the panoramic view of Port Louis. According to local people, Louisville is basically divided into Chinatown and Indian-inhabited areas where Chinese people live. The number of local Chinese is still quite large.
From the fort down into the main city of Port Louis, the area of the whole city is not very large, diversification is the theme of the city - the old Chinese lady who is carrying a basket of food, is repairing a car The old man of India, a short-skinned black babes and European and American backpackers carrying big bags are all here, and the architectural style is also diverse. Modern buildings with a small number of glass walls and long-standing colonial eras exist. The old European architecture, a sense of "mix and match".
We are wandering around the port in the central market that was said to have been built in 1844. This old market is similar to the domestic food market, crowded and lively, with various stalls along the street, selling daily necessities. And the sale of fresh shrimp and vegetables are all together, as well as some local products, fruits, handicrafts, etc., it is a very grounded place.
