The Zhanshan Grand Canyon in southern Anhui is the top choice for a local tour
The scenery is beautiful with fewer people, which is not tiring! During holidays, if you don't want to travel long distances, visiting such small attractions is really great!
The advantages of Zhanshan Grand Canyon are:
1️⃣ Although it requires walking, it's only a one-way 2 kilometers, and you can choose to only walk downhill, which is not tiring.
2️⃣ Full of negative oxygen ions, along the way you can see rocky mountains⛰️ green forests🌲 caves🪨 waterfalls and streams🌊 especially the water, which is very clear. It's great for wearing stream trekking shoes in the summer to play in the water and catch shrimp and fish with a net.
The only downside is that it's quite tiring to carry children up the mountain, you have to hold the child the whole way hhh, the stone road is a bit steep for children under 3 years old.
Scenic area information:
🎫Ticket: 49 yuan when purchased online, the exchange window will only give you a small ticket, be sure to keep it safe, don't lose it.
🚗Shuttle bus: 10 yuan, children also need to buy a ticket, charged per person. It's only for a one-way trip, not round-trip. No matter how many people, they will only give you 1 ticket, which will have the number of people written in traditional characters on it.
🕰Tour time: 1.5h-3h, it can be longer or shorter, I will explain later.
💘Tips:
1️⃣ Try to get to the mountain as early as possible, the scenic area currently opens at 8 am, and parking is free. The advantage of arriving early is fewer people, and it's also more likely to rain in the mountains, so the climate will be better in the morning.
2️⃣ If you have good stamina, you can choose to walk both ways, which takes about 2h-3h, depending on how long you rest along the way. If you want to save energy and take it easy, you can take the shuttle bus to the mountain from the starting point, and then walk all the way down. My friend brought a child, so they chose this method, and it only took 1.5h, and they also took a long rest in the corridor to avoid the rain.

Zhangshan Grand Canyon
The Zhangshan Grand Canyon is so beautiful. After the rain, the air in the scenic area is exceptionally fresh. Arriving at 8 am, there is no need to queue, and there aren't too many people. We chose to walk up the mountain and take a car down. It's very comfortable, with no particularly steep roads. The whole journey takes about an hour and a half. When we returned, we found that the traffic police had already started to direct traffic at the base of the mountain.

Xikou Mountain Grand Canyon is a less-known scenic spot in southern Anhui
Wondering where to go for the weekend, I thought about finding a place within a two-hour drive, so I zoomed in on the map and started choosing. I came across a city that neither of us had visited or knew much about - Xuancheng. After picking the city, I began to look up scenic areas and routes recommended by netizens and locals, and then decided to go to the Zhan Mountain Grand Canyon in Jixi County. Since it's a four-hour drive one way, we decided to stay overnight in Jixi County at the Huizhou Guli Hotel. On Sunday, we woke up naturally, had breakfast, and set off. We bought the park tickets online for 98 yuan for two people. The park has shuttle buses, 10 yuan per person for a single trip. We chose to hike up the mountain and take the bus down. The leisurely hike and photo-taking took about 2 hours in total. The steps on the mountain are not steep, but the water flows rapidly, so safety is important.
On the way back, the road down the mountain passes through a narrow country lane, but it's smooth all the way. Since it was the off-season, there was no congestion. We rested twice at service areas, and the total return trip took about 4 hours.
The scenic area is definitely worth visiting. Oh, and remember! Do not litter! The place is super beautiful, and there are enough trash bins. Just hold onto your trash for a moment, and you'll find a bin after walking a bit. Such beautiful scenery must be protected!!

Stay at the Shuizhukeng Village B&B, and visit the Zhanshan Grand Canyon
Following the recommendation of two cycling friends on the Huizhou Sky Road, we rushed to Changxi Township in Shexian County, and cycled along the road beside the mountain canyon stream. The scenery along the way was indeed stunning. By combining driving and cycling, we reached a place of high mountains and beautiful waters, where the road markings turned into a three-colored rainbow line. There was a sign indicating that we were entering the Huizhou National Forest Park, an especially tranquil environment, which suddenly inspired us to stay overnight in a mountain village. We smoothly checked into a newly built four-story beautiful B&B, which was perfectly located by the stream passing through the village, at the center of a mountain village embraced by hills and water, enjoying a uniquely favorable location. Pulling back the curtains of the room, we saw a vast expanse of neatly arranged rapeseed flowers in the distance, and nearby, the babbling stream under the shade of ancient trees. The B&B owners were kind and generous, having done business in Shanghai for over a decade, and they proudly praised their hometown as the most beautiful place. In spring, one can see the mountains blooming with flowers, and in autumn, observe the mountains covered in red leaves, with the sound of mountain springs falling continuously to the ear, creating a poetic and picturesque atmosphere in all four seasons. Hence, the B&B was named 'Listen to the Water, Chant of the Maple'.
Our village, named Shuizhukeng Village, also known as Zhuxi Village, has a history of several hundred years dating back to the Yuan Dynasty. The villagers are hardworking and the local customs are simple and pure, making it a rather authentic ancient village.
After staying one night in the clean and new inn, the next day we visited the scenic spot 'Zhanshan Grand Canyon', 8 kilometers away from Shuizhukeng Village, and it was a trip well worth it!

❤️Tour route: Zhangshan Grand Canyon is a relatively mature scenic area, just follow the signs all the way, walk to the exit and then walk back, the round trip is about 5km. The route follows a stream, and many places are suitable for playing in the water, which is of particularly good quality, and you can rest by the stream and enjoy the scenery. The round-trip hiking time is about 2.5-3h, and if you play in the water, it can be longer or shorter.

Zhangshan Grand Canyon in Xuancheng, Anhui, is a great off-the-beaten-path destination for light trekking
⛰️ Also known as the Great Man Valley, Zhangshan Grand Canyon is located in Jixi County, southern Anhui. The canyon area has a very primitive ecology and is a natural oxygen bar. Inside the canyon, there are extremely clear streams and many interesting boulders. The round trip in the scenic area is about 5km, which is very suitable for families and beginners to have a light trek. After the trek, you can check in at Longchuan or Renli to experience the charm of Hui-style architecture.

Travel alone to Jixi in Anhui and experience the county with the most authentic Huizhou atmosphere!
Jixi in Anhui is one of the national historical and cultural cities, and it was also the most important county in the ancient Huizhou Prefecture. If Shexian is considered the root of Huizhou, then Jixi must be the fruit of Huizhou. Many 'Gongfangming' such as Hui merchants, Hui cuisine, and Hui ink all originated from Jixi. With its beautiful mountains and clear waters, and its reputation for outstanding people and spirit of the place, how could one not visit Jixi? Traveling alone to Jixi in Anhui, to reminisce about the county with the most authentic Huizhou atmosphere, is a joy indeed!
1. Accommodation budget: Although Jixi's economy is not very strong, the cost of living is quite a bit higher than the surrounding areas. The accommodation environment is average, but the room rates are not low. Choosing a budget chain hotel costs 198 yuan per night, totaling 396 yuan for two nights.
2. Dining budget: In Jixi, not only is the hotel cost-performance not high, but the price of meals is also on the higher side. Fortunately, Jixi's Hui cuisine has a long-standing reputation, which is acceptable. The average dining cost per person in Jixi is around 110 yuan, with a total of 5 main meals and 3 breakfasts over 3 days. The 5 main meals cost 600 yuan, and the 3 breakfasts cost 90 yuan, making the total dining budget 690 yuan.
3. Ticket budget: Ziyuan in Jixi costs 20 yuan, Zhangshan Grand Canyon 54 yuan, Huizhou Ancient Trail 58 yuan, Longchuan Scenic Area 65 yuan, totaling 197 yuan.
4. Transportation budget: Jixi city has a smaller population, and public transportation is not very developed. It is best to rely on taxis for city transportation, and local drivers all charge a fixed price. The taxi fare from Jixi North High-speed Railway Station or Jixi County Station to the hotel is generally around 15 yuan. The taxi fare to Ziyuan is 25 yuan, to Zhangshan Grand Canyon 200 yuan (round trip), to Huizhou Ancient Trail 120 yuan, to Longchuan Scenic Area 50 yuan. There are direct rural buses to Zhangshan Grand Canyon, Longchuan Scenic Area, and Huizhou Ancient Trail, with ticket prices not exceeding 20 yuan, but the bus schedules are very limited and require a lot of travel, so it is not recommended to take rural buses. The transportation budget is 410 yuan.
The total budget for a 3-day, 2-night trip to Jixi is 396 yuan + 690 yuan + 197 yuan + 410 yuan = 1693 yuan.

Local recommended attractions: Zhan Mountain Grand Canyon
Ticket + shuttle bus 💰 around 60 (cheaper to buy tickets on Ctrip than on-site), free admission with Jixi local ID card.
The shuttle bus will take you to a place in the mountain, then go to the well-maintained path next to the canyon, walk all the way to the end, and return to the ticket office.
It took us 1.5 hours to walk and take pictures all the way.
It is said that locals will come here to escape the heat and swim in the summer.
We who came in winter feel that the water is indeed very clear, constantly flowing living water. It's really beautiful, it's a pity that you can't play with water in winter.
Apart from the Huizhang Ancient Road, this place is highly recommended!
