Having traveled several south east Asian countries, when you conjure up ideas of the Mekong you think, floating markets, and small fishing villages, but that mighty river has to begin somewhere, and of course the source is China, and this aquarium takes an in depth look at marine life in this extensive river. Having taken a taxi to what I thought would be untouched rainforest, I was sold multi enterance tickets. Intrigued, I followed the signs and found myself in an aquarium, much of the notice boards were in English, which I loved, and seeing such a large array of fish, in comfortable tanks was wonderful. 📍 原始森林公园, Yunnan, China ⏰2021.12 There are many primeval forests in Xishuangbanna, China, but I went to the primeval forest park, which can be reached in about 20 minutes by taxi from the city. It is a Chinese national 4A-level park, and you can see wild monkeys, peacocks, etc. inside. There is a unique aquarium at the entrance, which is the Yangtze River Aquarium. It is not a sea creature, but a river creature! The Yangtze River flows from Yunnan Province, China to Laos, Thailand, and Cambodia, and you can see fish, snakes, turtles, and other animals that can be found in the river. The Russian sisters' mermaid show is originally famous, but it has not been held since Corona, and the more famous 7D show was pretty good! After seeing the aquarium, I went inside the park and took a shuttle to the innermost part of the park, and it was a primitive forest. There were dozens of monkeys by the river, and the trees were so lush! There were a few people doing ziplines and they told me to go over a swing bridge, so I thought it was just one short bridge... but I also had the difficult experience of having to walk over four or five rope bridges that were about 30 meters high while backing up was prohibited. As the first of this kind in China, the aquarium is home to native freshwater species from the Mekong River, freshwater fish species from the Yangtze River and other rare amphibians. I was really impressed with the clean and high standard living conditions for the fish and reptiles. A little difficult to find your way around inside as not many English signs. There is also a 7,D cinema which is well worth doing, kids will love it.
