Discover the White Snow of Southern Taiwan
Discover the White Snow of Southern Taiwan
Every autumn, the riverbanks of the Zhuoshui River (濁水溪) transform into a floating sea of white as silvergrass blooms in abundance. Against this breathtaking backdrop, the striking red Xiluo Bridge (西螺大橋) stretches across the river, creating a stunning contrast that attracts countless tourists and photographers. From September to November each year, millions of silvergrass flowers bloom along both sides of the river, forming a “white snow world.” Combined with the vibrant red of the bridge and the winding river, the scenery evokes a sense of both romance and grandeur.
Xiluo Bridge – A Historical Symbol of Southern Taiwan
Constructed in 1953, Xiluo Bridge was once the longest bridge in the Far East, spanning 1,939 meters. It connects Yunlin County (雲林) and Changhua County (彰化) and historically served as a vital North–South transportation artery. Today, besides its functional value, the bridge has become an iconic sightseeing spot, intertwined with the memories of generations of Taiwanese.
🚆 How to Get There
From Taipei / Kaohsiung: Take the HSR (High-Speed Rail) to Yunlin Station → transfer to a bus or taxi to the bridge (about 20 minutes).
From Taichung: Take a regular train to Ershui Station or Douliu Station, then transfer to a bus.
By Car: Drive via National Highway No. 1 or Freeway No. 3; parking is available near the bridge.
