Iconic Cathedral
#travel
No visit to the splendid city of Tianjin would be complete, without a visit to the St. Joseph's Cathedral.
Build in 1913 this Roman Catholic Church, is 110 years old this year (2023).
Not only is this the largest Roman Catholic Church in Tianjin, but it's a sought after tourist attraction.
With that said, you can expect many tourists when visiting this iconic Church.
If you want to take high quality photographs, as I did on this day, then be prepared to be patient.
As numerous visitors have the exact same idea, and the Church gets crowed at times.
Enjoy the sightseeing and taking pictures, however, bare in mind, that it's still a religious sight (irrespective of your personal believes), let's respect the other visitors and Church goers alike.
This is truly worth the visit, be it thar you admire the architecture, statues or the history behind it.

A famous place to visit
By line 1 Tianjin Metro, it took about 20 minutes from Liuyuan metro station. Yinkodoa metrostation, that's the stop. Out of metro station and a five minute walk and there is the St. Joseph Cathedral. Easy access and one can not have difficulty finding that iconic church building.
Have visited that church a couple of times during my stay in Tianjin.
The church choir is awesome, the building is ancient architecture, I guess. Surrounding environment is good and I happen to come across many local and international tourists.
There are alot of coffee shops and restaurants just outside the church entrance. So, I recommend you to pay a visit on your next vacation or trip to Tianjin.

The Xikai Church
hidden in the downtown area of Tianjin passes through the bustling Binjiang Avenue commercial street and goes straight south. At the end of the distance is the Western Kai Church. The top of the tower of the church has a bronze cross, and the echo of the blue sky is more solemn and full of historical brilliance.
Entering the interior of the church, it is the long hall-style cross-arc with the main colors of lake blue, yellowish and light white, giving a slightly fresh feeling.
The West Kai Church, which is located in the downtown area, is very different from the bustling style of the surrounding area. No matter who you are, you may be awe-inspiring to see this sacred building in the high-rise buildings. Even the heart that is moving is instantly calm and calm, and it is baptized and purified by the soul.
YIYI NOTES.
The West Kai Church is located at the south end of the lively Binjiang Road in Tianjin. At the commercial streets there are huge buildings on both sides of the street, and the church standing tall is an absolutely beautiful landmark. This site selected for the church was not an accident by urban development, but an 18th century. The Holy society deliberately hoped that the bishop's seat would be located in the new Tianjin area at that time, in order to facilitate the spread of communication and doctrine. The riverside road that has been developed has become a lively pedestrian street. With hustling and bustling of the crowd, and the West Kai Church has a mass every time. It is a packed house, which is one of the most active Catholic churches in North China. This is probably the God's will. The Western Kai Church is a Romanesque building built by the French. It is worth mentioning that every brick in the church was from the French mainland. Perhaps the prosperity of the Western Kai Church is now impressed by this full sincerity. But I don’t know how much of it will be left after the years of war and turmoil. One should visit this place and should not forget to sit down for a while and look up at the beautiful dome. Whether it's a new brick or old tile, it carries too many traces of years and history.

| Xikai Church is packed with people during the National Day holiday. Xikai Church is located on Binjiang Road in Heping District, Tianjin. It faces northeast and is situated in the southwest. The building is in the shape of a Latin cross. Three huge domes, each 45 meters high, are arranged in the shape of a Chinese character "品" (due to the viewing angle, only two can be seen from the front of the church, and you need to be farther away to see all three). The three domes are slightly elongated upwards and covered with green copper plates. The huge domes are supported by wooden structures, and each dome has a bronze cross. The main body of the building is made of red and yellow bricks, which not only has its own characteristics, but also enhances the overall beauty. The designer deserves a thumbs up.
🔻The internal structure is a long hall with a box. The church transept and the rectangular church intersect to form a cross-arched corridor. The gate is in the form of an arch, usually made of stone. An arch is carved on the stone gate, one arch is nested in another, and the arch is from the outside to the inside, one is smaller than the other, and the innermost is a wooden gate. From the main entrance to the altar at the bottom, there are two rows (7 each) of 14 columns, forming a three-aisle style. The nave supports the large and small semi-circular arches with a stacked composite square column corridor. The octagonal dome and side windows in the room are inlaid with colored glass paintings. The interior wall is painted with murals, which are gorgeously decorated and full of religious mystery. There is also a beautiful large pipe organ.
⏱️Opening hours: Monday to Saturday 5:00-16:30, closed on Sundays.

| European vibes. ⛪About the church
Xikai Church is the largest Catholic church in Tianjin and the cathedral of the Catholic Diocese of Tianjin. It is a typical Baroque-style building.
The exterior walls of the church are made of red and yellow bricks.
From a distance, the three giant domes on the top of the church are arranged in a "品" shape, covered with copper sheets, and each dome has a cross.
The dome is green because the copper sheets have rusted in the sun and rain, creating a different kind of beauty.

Joseph Cathedral Church in Tianjin city
This church is located downtown of the city. There were so many people but still worthy. And free to visit. I loved the architecture, which was completely western style. Sculptures were point of attraction for me. Mosaics were beautiful too 💜

The St. Joseph Cathedral in Tianjin is a magnificent architectural marvel that holds a significant historical and religious importance. As a visitor, I was truly captivated by its grandeur and serenity.
The cathedral's exterior is a striking fusion of Neo-Byzantine and Romanesque styles, characterized by its intricate carvings, towering spires, and impressive stained glass windows. The stunning ivory-colored facade instantly draws one's attention and sets the tone for the impressive interior that awaits.
Upon entering, I was immediately taken aback by the sheer size and beauty of the cathedral. The high ceilings, adorned with exquisite paintings, created an ambiance of tranquility and reverence. The soft, natural light streaming through the stained glass windows added a mystical touch to the space, casting vibrant hues on the walls and creating an ethereal atmosphere.
The interior of the St. Joseph Cathedral is adorned with intricate marble altars, golden chandeliers, and beautifully crafted wooden pews. Every corner exudes elegance and a sense of spirituality. The attention to detail in the design and decor is truly commendable.
Through its rich history, the cathedral has become a symbol of faith and resilience for the local Catholic community. It has witnessed the city's growth and transformation, surviving wars and natural disasters. Its survival amidst these challenges adds an extra layer of significance to the cathedral.
Beyond its architectural and historical value, the St. Joseph Cathedral also serves as a place of worship and reflection. The peaceful atmosphere inside invites visitors to pause, reflect, and experience a sense of inner peace. Whether you are a believer or not, the cathedral provides a serene haven away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Visiting the St. Joseph Cathedral is not only a visual treat but also an opportunity to appreciate the cultural and religious diversity of Tianjin. It offers a glimpse into the city's past and serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving and cherishing historical landmarks.
Overall, my experience at the St. Joseph Cathedral in Tianjin was awe-inspiring. It is a testament to the skills of the architects and artisans who brought it to life, and a reminder of the faith and devotion of those who have cherished the cathedral for generations. I highly recommend a visit to this magnificent place, where art, history, and spirituality converge to create an unforgettable experience.

Walking in, it was calm and quiet, different from the busy city outside. The colorful sunlight coming through the pretty glass windows made the inside feel peaceful.

Xikai Church
🌟I have always wanted to go to the Xikai Cathedral before going to Tianjin.
This time I finally saw it! It's so beautiful that I cried
♦The Xikai Cathedral is also known as the Xikai Church and is the largest Roman-style building in Tianjin.
♦It was built in the second year of the Republic of China (1913) and the overall architectural style is Romanesque. The main body is red and yellow floral bricks, and the octagonal dome and side windows in the room are made of colored glass.
♦There are also many colored murals and large pipe organs on the inner walls, and the entire decoration is rich and gorgeous.
📷Photo location:
1⃣The gate is close to the main street, and it is difficult to take a complete and undisturbed front view of the church. If you go around the right channel to the back of the church, you will be pleasantly surprised. The arc-shaped wall of red and yellow floral bricks is a typical Roman style. Don't worry about being disturbed.
2⃣Inside the church, you can squat down, extend the lens along the edge of the seat, show neatness and depth through symmetrical layout, and also capture the architectural features of continuous cross arches.
3⃣Under the tree in the right channel outside the church, you can take a picture of the left dome of the church.
4⃣At the entrance of the office area in the left channel outside the church, shoot through the railing, use the pattern on the iron door as the foreground, and make the building more interesting.
5⃣Looking at the church from the angle of the garden. Set the phone to portrait mode, focus on the flowers, blur the background church, the effect is also good. Tianjin Xikai Cathedral.

Xikai Cathedral
is like a reflection of a Western church. You can see the church standard that is often seen in various Western literary works: the old priest, the old servant with limited mobility, and the believer who is looking for Mass. Most of the believers here are middle-aged and old people. Even if they are weak, they should sing poetry. Even if they have no legs or feet, they will go to Christs knee-curving ceremony. I also have peace of mind because it shows that most young people are still not there. I believe in fate prematurely here.

The West Kai Church is the largest Catholic church in Tianjin. At the end of Binjiang Road, it is very easy to find and can be seen from afar. The church does not accept tickets, but it is best not to wear knee-length shorts. You can't call in the church. You can't talk. (The rules written at the door)
I was the first time. When I came to the church, I had a loved one in the family but I never came. I came to the church and some devout believers were praying. They looked at them and suddenly felt very sacred. I sat on the bench and looked at the small church. The booklet has written some about the Lord, and Jesus has some "science".
The West Kai Church is not big, but it is very good, the top is light blue, and the windows are some pictures made of stained glass. When entering the door, there was a believer who said softly that there was a lecture, and everyone could come and listen. I don't know why, when I came to the church, I became very quiet in my inexplicable heart. I really hope that the Lord can hear what I said (although I didn't say anything). I feel that the Lord has been watching your every charity, maybe. This is the true meaning. The church is really a sacred, comfortable, and charitable place.
Come to Tianjin, I hope everyone will come and feel it.
