Xi'an Beilin Museum.
The Xi'an Beilin Museum was expanded from the "Xi'an Beilin" with a history of more than 900 years. The Beilin was first built in the second year of the Yuan Dynasty of the Northern Song Dynasty (1087) to preserve the Tang Dynasty "Kaicheng Stone Sutra", "Shitai Filial Sutra" and the inscriptions of famous calligraphers such as Yan Zhenqing and Liu Gongquan. This historical origin gives the Xi'an Beilin Museum a unique advantage in the collection of inscriptions.
After the maintenance and expansion of the Jin, Yuan, Ming, Qing and the Republic of China, the scale of Xi'an Beilin has continued to expand and the collection of stones has increased. In 1944, the Shaanxi Provincial Government established the Shaanxi Provincial Museum (later renamed the Xi'an Beilin Museum) on this basis, making it an art museum mainly for the collection, research and display of inscriptions, tombstones and stone carvings of the past dynasties.
The Xi'an Beilin Museum is not only one of the earliest museums in China, but also the earliest and largest museum in China for the collection of ancient inscriptions. Its collection system is complete, the volume is huge, and the value is extremely high. It is known as the "Treasure House of Chinese Civilization", "The Source of Stone Carvings" and "The Ancestral Court of Calligraphy Art". In 1961, Xi'an Beilin was listed as the first batch of key cultural relics protection units by the State Council; in 2008, it was awarded the "National Patriotism Education Demonstration Base"; in 2008, it was rated as the first batch of "National First-Class Museums"; in 2018, it was rated as a national AAAAA-level tourist attraction.
The collections of the Xi'an Beilin Museum are mainly inscriptions, tombstones, stone carvings, precious ancient books, calligraphy and paintings since the Han Dynasty. They are numerous and of high quality. Among them, many inscriptions not only have high artistic value, but also have important historical value, providing valuable historical materials for the study of religious history and ancient Chinese and Western cultural exchanges.

The Jingyun Bell | A Treasure of the Museum, Inscribed by the Emperor and Supervised in Casting, with a Loud and Pleasant Sound
There is a great bell in the Xi'an Stele Forest, which is quite remarkable and famous, serving as the treasure of the Xi'an Stele Forest Museum. It is a bronze bell cast for the Jinglong Temple during the Tang Dynasty, a national first-class cultural relic, and one of the first batch of cultural relics prohibited from being exhibited abroad in China. It is known as 'the number one famous bell in the world' and one of the world's famous bells. This great bell is the Jingyun Bell.
Legend has it that when the great bell was placed at the old site of the Tang Chang'an Bell Tower, it served as a time-telling bell with a loud and pleasant sound, like the cry of a phoenix; however, when Emperor Shenzong of Ming moved the great bell to the current Xi'an Bell Tower in the tenth year of Wanli (1582), it could not be made to ring at all.
🌈Highlights:
✅ The great bell was cast in the second year of Jingyun during the reign of Emperor Ruizong of Tang (711), with a height of 247 centimeters, a circumference of 486 centimeters, a diameter of 165 centimeters, and a weight of 6 tons. The bell was made of a bronze-tin alloy and cast in five sections, using 26 casting molds, with visible mold marks on the bell body.
✅ The rim of the bell is hexagonal in shape, with a beast-shaped knob on top. The bell body has 32 'Pulao'-shaped sound nipples that can adjust the pitch, producing a pure, elegant, crisp, and loud sound.
✅ The bell body is decorated with patterns cast around it, divided into three layers from top to bottom, each layer separated into six sections by vine patterns, with images of flying apsaras, soaring cranes, walking lions, rising dragons, vermilion birds, and unicorns with one leg and one horn respectively, and each corner has four auspicious clouds, making it vivid and unique.
✅ On the front of the bell body, there is a piece of parallel prose inscription with a total of 292 characters, personally composed and written by Emperor Ruizong Li Dan. It is one of the rare and precious calligraphic works of Li Dan that has survived to this day, describing the mysterious and wonderful aspects of Taoism and the praises of the Jingyun Bell by people at the time. The great bell was cast under the supervision of Li Dan.

Favorite Domestic City: A Day Trip to Xi'an
Having traveled through so many places, Xi'an is my white moonlight.
Poets from the south, generals from the north, the loess of Shaanxi buries emperors; as the ancient capital of thirteen dynasties, Xi'an's profound history has fulfilled all my expectations.
The first stop—The Stele Forest.
As I approached the entrance of the Stele Forest, my heart settled. The first stele to greet visitors is Emperor Xuanzong of Tang's 'Filial Piety Classic on Stone Platform,' whose grand clerical script embodies the spirit of the Tang emperor. The 'Kaicheng Stone Classics' gave me the greatest shock, with over six hundred and fifty thousand characters, each square character seems like a sage stepping out of the history books, narrating the splendid and brilliant Chinese civilization. The 'Six Steeds of Zhaoling' allowed me to have such a profound emotional connection with cultural relics for the first time; two of the paintings have been lost overseas, but one day, they will return to the Stele Forest! I hope I can witness that day.
Xi'an Stele Forest Museum, due to partial construction and renovation, has reduced its ticket price from 50 to 10 yuan per person. The Stele Forest was established on the foundation of the Song Dynasty Confucian temple, known for its forest of steles and gathering of famous calligraphers' works, hence the name Stele Forest. The words 'Xi'an Stele Forest' were written by Lin Zexu.
Due to the construction, the open area is quite limited, mainly displaying rubbings of steles. It is recommended to hire a guide for a better understanding of the stories of famous calligraphers. The guide we hired cost 30 yuan per person and took about 30-40 minutes.
The second stop—The Terracotta Army.
Respect to my bro Ying Zheng!
The solemn and majestic Terracotta Army vividly displays the iron-blooded Qin Dynasty's conquests and territorial expansions, laying the foundation for China's eternal legacy. In my opinion, the greatest emperor of all time is none other than Qin Shi Huang.
On the way there, the Didi driver said it's the 'off-season' now, with about 40-50 thousand visitors a day, not too many.
Only after entering did I realize that Pit No.1 might be the place with the highest population density in China, with about 5-6 layers of people in front of the railing...
I had to queue up several times before I finally 'squeezed' to the front.
It was truly shocking; each warrior's face is different, not the kind that is mass-produced from a uniform mold, but each a completely independent 'person,' from facial expressions to clothing, all unique and lifelike.
The other two pits mainly provide supplementary details and displays for Pit No.1.
Originally, Pit No.2 had a well-preserved colored terracotta warrior (the colors would oxidize if not protected within 30 minutes of excavation), but unfortunately, it is no longer on display, which is a bit regrettable.
Xi'an's attractions are quite scattered, so it's convenient to join a local day tour group.
Food to try: mutton stew with bread, roujiamo (meat sandwich), and belt noodles—it's a carb paradise.
Xi'an is great, I'll come again. Xi'an·Shaanxi

Xi'an, Shaanxi - Small Wild Goose Pagoda, Stele Forest, Bell Tower.
What is travel for? It can be for relaxation, for collecting stamps, for exploring mountains and rivers, for satisfying hunger, for anything you want. It's all about your own experience, irrelevant to others.
The day after returning from Mount Hua, feeling still energetic, I went to the third stop in Xi'an city, the Small Wild Goose Pagoda. As mentioned before, this pagoda is also a part of the Wild Goose Pagoda, but it's called the Small Wild Goose Pagoda because it was built later and is smaller than the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. The Small Wild Goose Pagoda was built in the Jianfu Temple during the reign of Emperor Zhongzong of Tang, Li Xian, who was emperor twice. It was also for storing sutras. The Jianfu Temple was built by Wu Zetian in memory of Li Xian's father, Li Zhi. The royal family built it, so it's called Jianfu, and the Small Wild Goose Pagoda is also called the Jianfu Temple Pagoda. You can't climb the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, and it's free, but you need to make a reservation. There is a bell next to the Jianfu Temple, which, together with the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, is one of the eight sights of Guanzhong - the Morning Bell of the Wild Goose Pagoda. It costs ten yuan to ring the bell once.
The Small Wild Goose Pagoda scenic area includes the Xi'an Museum. This is a good choice if you can't make a reservation for other museums. It's great to see students from several schools visiting. Culture becomes more confident when it is passed down. After entering the museum, I first saw the tri-colored horse soaring into the sky. I found that the tail of the war horse needs to be tied up, so the bun is also a part of the horse's tail; I can see the bronze plate of the Western Xia language inside, I understand all the words on it, but I don't recognize them; the Tang Dynasty's golden-backed auspicious animal grape mirror, a mirror full of layout, I don't know how to take a picture; the little soldier cheering up, echoing the previous workers, the city-level museum may be less pressured than the provincial-level one, and the pottery figurines are in good spirits.
The scenic area is not large. After visiting, I rode a bike to the Qiu Lin Company for lunch. This name sounds like a foreign trade company, but it's actually a shop selling various snacks. I had a bowl of noodles and a meat pie, which were all carbohydrates. I rode a bike to the fourth stop, the Stele Forest. This weekly bike card was a good purchase. The plane trees on both sides of the road, the fallen leaves are golden in early winter, much better than some places where they are bald in winter and hairy in spring. The entrance fee to the Stele Forest is fifty yuan, but now it's only ten yuan. Several exhibition halls are closed for restoration, so this ten yuan is meaningless. Cheap is not necessarily valuable.
The Stele Forest Museum is one of the first batch of cultural preservation units established after the founding of the People's Republic of China, ranking first in stone carvings. On the right hand side after entering the gate is the Jingyun Bell cast by Emperor Ruizong of Tang, Li Dan. On it is a rubbing of Li Dan's calligraphy, which is said to be one of his rare fonts. Li Dan is more prominent than his brother Li Xian. He was emperor twice and retired emperor once. His son is the famous Emperor Xuanzong of Ming. Across from the Jingyun Bell on the left hand side after entering the gate is the Daxia Stone Horse. Daxia was a Xiongnu regime during the Sixteen Kingdoms of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, with a reign of twenty-four years. The stone horse is the only surviving inscription that confirms the existence of Daxia. As for why a horse was carved, it may have something to do with the horse trampling on the Xiongnu. After seeing a lot, I accepted it. Walking along the main road, I came to the Stele Forest Pavilion. The two characters "Stele Forest" were written by Lin Zexu. As for the "stele" character missing a stroke, it should be due to the variant character, and it has little to do with Lin Zexu being dismissed and losing his hat. Inside the pavilion is the stone platform filial piety sutra, written by Emperor Xuanzong of Tang, Li Longji, and engraved by Emperor Suzong of Tang, Li Heng. These two probably only collaborated once. There is a saying that the Tang Dynasty was chaotic and the Han Dynasty was dirty. From the establishment of the Tang Dynasty to the Tianbao period, more than a hundred years, there was no rule in human relations. It's intriguing to write the filial piety sutra.
After passing through the pavilion, I entered the exhibition hall. There are several authentic works of Yan Zhenqing from different periods. From the perspective of a professional layman, they are really well written. Next to it is a stele of the spread of Nestorianism in China, one of the four major steles in the world, which is very valuable. Daqin is not a reference to the unified Qin Dynasty, but the Tang Dynasty's name for ancient Rome; Nestorianism is an early branch of Christianity that entered our country. I don't know how to evaluate the value of cultural relics. What I can see is that the inscription is written by foreigners in Chinese. The inscription also contains ancient Syriac. In addition to this, the most important thing is that foreigners wanted to take this stele away but failed.
Other stone carvings also have a history. The portrait of Confucius created by the Prince of Guo, the man who had an affair with Zhen Huan, was made on the way to escort the Living Buddha. It seems more reasonable to paint a picture of the Lama; the six horses of Zhaoling that were stolen and destroyed, four of which were cut and two lost, were in the Republic of China period. Try it now and see if you can't smash the thieves; the stone rhinoceros in front of Li Yuan's tomb, I doubt if rhinos were introduced to the Central Plains at that time, but it's really well carved and very fat.
After leaving the Stele Forest, I rode a bike to the donkey market, walked along the road for a while, and arrived at the fifth stop, the Bell Tower. The Bell Tower was built in the Ming Dynasty and is well preserved to this day. It stands in the middle of a crossroad, forming a roundabout, with vehicles whizzing by. Standing at the southeast corner of Kaiyuan Shopping Mall, it's already dusk. Walking to the observation deck on the fourth floor, the Bell Tower and the distant Drum Tower are in sight under the night sky. Instead of spending thirty yuan to climb the Bell Tower and be in it, it's better to stand far away and feel a different kind of mind and body. There are boundaries in mountains and seas, and I don't want to be in this form.

Walking along the city wall, you can see a wall with a huge "Confucius Temple". This is the Beilin Museum. It is the earliest museum in Shaanxi. It is an art that collects, researches and displays historical stone, epitaph and stone carvings. museum. In addition to the museum itself, a street at the entrance has become a gathering place for art and literature. There are many small stalls selling fans, engravings, paintings and calligraphy. We also saw a young handsome guy carefully drawing a fan, attracting many people to watch. People who like this kind of thing can go shopping and the culture is especially good.

Xi'an Beilin Museum #My favorite niche museum in Xi'an! #
Today I will share with you one of my most favorite museums in Xi'an, the Beilin Museum.
mentioned the museum in Xi'an, you may first think of the famous Shaanxi Libo, yes, the Shaanxi History Museum is also a very distinctive background, share it with you.
First of all, why do you like the Forest of Stone Tablets? The whole area of the Forest of Stone Tablets is very very old and has the characteristics of old Xi'an. If you want to see the side of the old Xi'an, you must not miss it.
Second, Xi'an Beilin has a long history and rich content! Founded in 1087 AD, Beilin is the earliest and largest number of Beilin Museums in China. It has a total of more than 1,000 pieces of stone and tombs from Han to Qing Dynasty. Here, the stone is like a forest, hence the name of the forest. Here is the treasure house of ancient Chinese calligraphy art, and it also brings together ancient literature classics and stone carving patterns; fish advice, you must mention the appointment of a good network guide, other places to say, like museums, no guides and guided tours Is not a level of experience, Trip has a network guide, you can search, Figure 3 is the network guide I found in Trip, very professional! ! And told me a lot of different and interesting stories behind the history, let the cultural relics speak, let history not boring!
In short, the museum is the best side of a city. To understand the history of a city and her story, be sure to start with the museum. In the Beilin Museum, if you are lucky, you can also meet the masters who have worked for decades.

Chang'an has been the emperor's capital since ancient times. The city of Xi'an is a place that has been longing for since ancient times. It has entered Xi'an City and has seen Chang'an flowers in one day. I like Xi'an, not only because I have lived in this city for a long time, but also because of the unique cultural charm in his bones. The long history here has created the humanities of the origins, the unique Guanzhong tone of Xi'an, and the precious heritage left by the ancients, making the city seem simple and ancient, yet without losing its elegance. When it comes to Xi'an's most cultural place, the Beilin Museum is one of them. Here, all the famous monuments in the world are here. Most of the calligraphy and calligraphy in this world are also in the forest. The Beilin Museum is the earliest museum in Shaanxi. It is a museum of art that is unique in the collection, display and research of ancient inscriptions, epitaphs and stone carvings. The famous "Zhaoling Liujun" has four horses hidden in the Beilin. The museum's collection of cultural relics can no longer be described as "super rich". It was thought that this is just a stone monument collection museum. It can be finished in an hour. I have been here for more than four hours. The calligraphy works of famous masters, the craftsmen of ancient craftsmen, and the ubiquitous Changan Buddha rhyme let you directly feel the charm of Chinese culture. Through the Beilin Gate Building, you will find that there are not only stone tablets, but also stone carving art museums and stone carving art rooms. The seven exhibition rooms of the stone carving art room show calligraphy monuments, stone carvings, various calligraphy fonts, and books. If you like these calligraphy, as well as the staff on-site rubbing, you can buy it. The most fascinating part of the museum is the stone carving art gallery at the end of the scenic spot. The dark lighting in the museum makes the art museum more mysterious, especially the projection of the Buddha statue illuminated by the lights makes the Buddha statue more solemn. The stone carvings here are all Buddha statues in the Buddha world. The expressions of various expressions are full and round, and the beauty of Chang'an Buddha rhyme is so great! Whether you are a calligraphy enthusiast or not, the Beilin Museum is worth a visit and savoring. Look at the stone monuments and stone carvings in the museum. It is a dialogue between you and the ancients. Remember to come to Xi'an to visit here.

Traveling to Xi'an, the Qinling Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum and the Shaanxi Provincial History Museum are probably the places to go. They basically constitute the most prolific cultural relics exhibition in ancient Chinese history from Qin to Tang. In contrast, the brilliance of the Beilin Museum is much more fascinating. But if you are a calligraphy enthusiast, or an ancient creator, the Forest of Stones is a paradise.
Xi'an Beilin Museum is the earliest museum in Shaanxi. It collects, displays and studies historical inscriptions, epitaphs and stone carvings. It is the earliest and largest collection of art treasures in ancient China. It is displayed from Han to Qing. There are more than a thousand pieces of stone and tombs of various generations.
