| A personal museum tour in Wuzhou. ✅When the driver pointed to a clock tower-like building and told me that we had arrived at the museum, I was skeptical. I got out of the car and couldn't believe that this was the entrance to the museum. ✅It turns out that Wuzhou Museum has two entrances. One is the most popular entrance, which is accessible by a sightseeing elevator. The other is accessible by a slope next to the museum, through the entrance of Riverside Park. You can drive there, and there is a parking lot. ✅Wuzhou, formerly known as Cangwu, is located at the confluence of the Xunjiang, Guijiang, and Xijiang Rivers in eastern Guangxi. It is the water gateway to Guangxi and a cultural city with a history of more than 2,000 years. It was the capital of the ancient Cangwu Kingdom and is known as the "Millennium Town of Lingnan and Century-old Commercial Port of Guangdong and Guangxi." ✅The museum's collection is not large, but it includes cultural relics such as Neolithic and Paleolithic stone tools, pottery, porcelain, jade, steatite, gold, silver, and bronze, which are the essence of the city's history and culture. Wuzhou is a small city, but it has many attractions, such as Qilou City, Longmu Temple, the Governor's Mansion, the Museum, Baiyun Mountain, and the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall. They are not far from each other, and you can reach them by riding a small electric bike. As a Lingnan town with a history of more than 2,000 years, it is full of historical traces and a strong cultural atmosphere! The food is mainly sweet, with famous Guangxi dishes such as paper-wrapped chicken and scallion fish! There are also many other dishes, such as tortoise jelly, beef brisket noodles, and soy milk. Getting around Wuzhou is very convenient. The city center and attractions are all in the same area. You can ride a shared electric scooter to different places, stop and go, and experience the local cuisine. It's really comfortable and perfect for a weekend city walk to relax and unwind away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. It's said that you can't go to Guangxi without trying the rice noodles. Each region in Guangxi has its own unique rice noodles! Don't just know Liuzhou snail noodles and Guilin rice noodles! Hahaha, Wuzhou's river noodles really impressed me! This time in Wuzhou, I was guided by a local friend, so all the food I tried was verified by locals. Highly recommend Fangji Noodle Shop: A bowl of plain noodles with your choice of toppings. The river noodles are really thin and translucent. The plain noodles are not your average bland noodles. The soup base is flavorful enough to be eaten on its own. For toppings, be sure to add bean curd skin. It's so good, it'll send you to heaven! (Open from 7pm to midnight) Highly recommend Bingquan Soy Milk Shop: One of the top ten famous snacks in Guangxi. If you haven't eaten at Bingquan Soy Milk Shop, you haven't been to Wuzhou. My friend recommended their soy milk, but I don't recommend it too much. It's a bit too sweet and has a firewood flavor. If you're not used to this taste, you might not like it. My main recommendation is their rice noodle rolls! It's different from Cantonese and Chaoshan rice noodle rolls! It's so delicious, it's hard to describe. Even now, as I type this, I'm reminiscing about its taste. The chicken feet and chives dumplings are also really fragrant! (Open from 6:00am to 2:00pm, Monday to Sunday; Open from 6:00am to 4:00pm on public holidays) Other recommended local dishes: Braised pork rice noodles, beef offal, wonton noodles, turtle jelly, Liubao tea. Attractions: Li Jishen's Former Residence (requires a taxi, as it's a bit far), Dragon Mother Temple, Governor's Palace, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, Wuzhou Museum, etc. You can get around by shared electric scooter. They are all close together. The main purpose is to learn about the city's cultural and modern history. Along the way, you'll encounter arcades that still retain the complete Lingnan architectural style. You can also take a walk along the river and enjoy the breeze.

Wuzhou has not only been the capital of both Guangdong and Guangxi, but it is also the birthplace of the Xijiang culture and the Longmu culture, as well as one of the origins of the Cantonese language. Cantonese language, Cantonese cuisine, night markets, and morning tea, wandering through the arcade streets to taste the authentic culture of Guangfu. Many people from Guangdong compare this place to Guangzhou from twenty or thirty years ago, seeking the slow-paced memories of the past. The four of us Beijing guys could feel the difference, but it was no match for our lack of understanding, fortunately, we had the self-awareness to order a group-buy Cantonese meal for six to eight people, and for morning tea, we chose nine out of sixteen options. Paper-wrapped chicken, scallion oil fish, preserved vegetable pork belly, tortoise jelly... We felt the atmosphere, satisfied our cravings, and the key point was that the prices were very affordable. After turning around the arcade street and walking on the river embankment, listening to the incomprehensible language, looking at the different scenery, we felt joy and happiness. The Xunjiang River comes from the west and accepts the Beijiang River from the north to form the Xijiang River. Even in the dry season of March, there are still many boats on the river. Imagining the eastward flowing river passing through Guangdong, joining the Pearl River, and rushing towards the South China Sea, it should be the area to experience in the next self-driving tour. After playing around the old town area on the north bank of the Xijiang River and the east bank of the Guijiang River, we crossed the Guijiang Bridge to the Riverside Park. The park is also a small hill, and we drove directly up to the Wuzhou Christian Church, a European-style building over a hundred years old. To its west is the Wuzhou Museum, free to visit (closed on Mondays). Coming out and walking to the other side of the hilltop, it's not high and very close to the former site of the British Consulate, which is also free to visit. To the east is Hegang Tower, an imitation ancient five-story building with flying eaves, very tall. From the top of the tower, you can see the Guijiang River flowing southward into the Xijiang River, and the old town area we have toured is in full view, with beautiful scenery and stirring emotions. However, the way tourists express themselves is by holding their phones, taking pictures and recording, occasionally uttering exclamations, which is hard to compare with the overflowing talent and ink of the ancients.
