The drive from Chongqing city to Wulong takes more than 3 hours. If you don't want to rush a one-day trip, taking the first/last train for a special forces-like itinerary can be a bit tiring. I took the high-speed train to Wulong Station, then took the scenic area shuttle bus (¥10) to the scenic area. I stayed overnight in Wulong (there are many accommodations around ¥100 and specialty restaurants in front of the scenic area, very convenient), spending more time to leisurely explore the next day. Several karst landscape scenic areas in Wulong are listed as World Heritage sites. The Three Natural Bridges scenic area became more famous due to the filming of 'Curse of the Golden Flower' and 'Transformers 4'. The Three Natural Bridges + Longshuixia Fissure (ticket includes transfer bus and elevator ¥210) involve walking through canyons to admire the karst landscape. The Three Natural Bridges is a canyon with two tiankengs and three bridges. Hiking about 4 kilometers in the canyon surrounded by towering cliffs forming tiankengs and three natural stone bridge caves is surprisingly flat and easy to walk. However, Longshuixia Fissure involves walking up and down a narrow creek valley. Although it's only a 2-kilometer journey, the rainy and slippery stone steps require careful walking. The scenic area opens at 8:30 AM, and it takes about 5 hours to leisurely walk through both scenic areas. Then take the scenic area shuttle bus (¥10) to Wulong Station, and take the high-speed train back to Chongqing city.

lovely weekend trip to Chongqing. Frist day visited Wulong and the 3 bridges, amazing area and lovely walk around. It was very easy to walk around as it a single route. I did hire a private tour (legend tours) as it is 3hr away from the city but it is worth it. Especially the last part, if you enjoyed transformer it will be a treat. After, in the evening when to Hongyadong Commercial St, to see the light and visit the different levels of food and shops available and when up the tower to have a night view of the city . Second day, went Ciqikou Ancient Town. Lovely and fun to walk around the old town, to see different shops and food stalls. After, went to the famous station of Liziba . Though the dishes had already been set on the table 🍲, several members were still in the restroom 🚻, so I took a quick stroll outside 🚶♂️ to get a glimpse of the surrounding area. The town felt calm and orderly 🌤️, with European-style buildings 🏛️. Some structures resembled bell towers ⛪ from old churches, though I doubt they served such a function—it’s still China, after all. This meal was both satisfying and flavorful 😋. I particularly enjoyed the Hainan-style poached chicken 🍗, crispy fried shrimp 🍤, and the stir-fried spicy chicken with chopped celery and peanuts 🌶️🥜. The tofu was rich and hearty 🍲, and the stir-fried vegetables 🥦🥬 were fresh. I skipped the fish again 🐟❌, still wary of bones. First time traveling in China, I tried taking a regular train. It's not bad, and it's cheap, but a bit chaotic. There are so many people in Hongyadong. You might want to go during the school holidays. The lights there are so spectacular. It's really beautiful. The next day, I went to the Heavenly Bridge Pit National Park. I intended to see the White Inn Roof because I had seen reviews about the time when there was no snow on the roof. When I arrived in Wulong City, I was so disappointed. There was no snow at all. Until I took the bus to the park's tourist service point, it suddenly started snowing. It was only an hour away from the city. But I was able to see the White Inn Roof to my heart's content. Plus, it was the low season, so the park entrance fee was cheap. On the bus ride, I talked to my friend in Thai. From Chongqing, jump on a train to Wulong — a budget-friendly ride that cost us around €2.50. Upon arrival, we grabbed a taxi straight to Chongqing Wulong County Yiqi Hotel, our accommodation for the night. It’s conveniently located right next to the tourist center, which made everything easier. (Alternatively, you can take a bus to the tourist center for only 10 yuan — the ride takes about 30 minutes.) After checking in, the hotel owner kindly drove us to the tourist center, where we bought our tickets to explore the national park. There are four main attractions to choose from: • Three Natural Bridges • Longshuixia Gap • Fairy Mountain (Xiannushan) • Furong Cave We chose the Three Natural Bridges (155 yuan), which included entrance, elevator access, and the scenic trail. This was the main reason we came to Wulong, and we planned to visit Longshuixia Gap (105 yuan) the next morning. Most people visit both in one day, but we preferred a slower pace. The walk through the Three Natural Bridges was absolutely breathtaking — peaceful, grand, and awe-inspiring. If you’re too tired to walk back, there’s a return shuttle bus available for 15 yuan. Our visit lasted around 2 hours with the shuttle; usually, it takes 2.5 to 3 hours, but hunger made us speed things up.

Let me tell you, traveling here is super easy! Their metro system is incredibly cheap and convenient. With just Alipay, you can handle everything in one app. The locals are very friendly—even though we don't speak their language, they make an effort to communicate with us. Especially when they see foreigners, they love to come and chat (whether we understand them is another story, haha). This trip abroad was a success and left a great impression—8/10. I joined a day tour to Wulong from Chongqing to make the journey fuss-free, and it was absolutely worth it. Wulong’s dramatic karst landscape is unlike anything I’ve seen — towering stone bridges, lush cliffs, and deep gorges that feel straight out of a fantasy world. In fact, parts of “Transformers: Age of Extinction” and other films were shot here, and it’s easy to see why. The Three Natural Bridges (天生三桥) were breathtaking, with massive stone arches spanning steep valleys. The nearby Longshuixia Fissure Gorge (地缝) offered an immersive hike through a misty, narrow canyon lined with waterfalls and moss-covered rocks. The path was wet and slippery, so I was really glad I wore shoes with good grip. Also, don’t forget an umbrella or raincoat — the weather changes fast and can catch you off guard. Food in the area in expensive and not that great so bring snacks. Toilets there so have water point and water dispensers. #wulong #wulongkarst
