The drive up is stunning. The roads are all in perfect condition. The best way to travel is on your own moped, a very easy ride. The complex was clean & had very few tourists. The views are simply amazing. The Temples, pagodas & shrines are all well maintained. The number of photo opportunities could fill a whole album. Wat Sampov Pram, or "Wat Sampao Ha Lam," is an ancient temple that stands majestically atop a high mountain, surrounded by white mist. ✨ Beauty and Legend "Sampao Ha Lam" comes from a legend that tells of five large rocks lined up on the temple grounds. At first glance, they resemble ancient junks moored atop the mountain, hence the temple's name. They also symbolize travel and protection. The temple was built during the reign of King Sisowath Monivong, a Cambodian king in the early 20th century. Despite the passage of time, the building retains its mystical charm with its traditional architecture. 🙏 Atmosphere upon arrival As I approached the temple grounds, I felt a sense of tranquility and sacredness with every step. The old walls, covered in moss, and the mist that lingers almost all day long, made the temple seem like something out of a surreal world. I wandered around and encountered several Buddha statues and small pavilions, including the five-sampao rock formations, a striking feature. Tourists come to take photos and pay their respects for good fortune. 🌄 Spectacular Viewpoint From the temple grounds, you can see views of the lake, sea, and vast forests on clear days. However, on foggy days, the atmosphere is mysterious and unmatched. 🕘 Opening Hours Open all day (but best to visit in the morning or afternoon for cooler weather and clearer photos). 🚗 Getting There • Located atop Mount Bokor in Bokor National Park. • From Kampot City, it takes approximately 1–1.5 hours by car or motorbike. #WatSampovPram

I started my journey with a visit to Bokor Mountain, a mystical highland that looms over Kampot. The drive up was breathtaking, with mist-covered roads and lush greenery stretching as far as the eye could see. At the summit, I explored the eerie yet fascinating Bokor Hill Station, a relic from the French colonial era. The abandoned church and grand old casino, both weathered by time, added to the mountain’s ghostly allure. The view from the peak was mesmerizing, offering a panoramic sight of Kampot, the coastline, and even Phu Quoc Island on a clear day. Next, I ventured to Phnom Tek Thom, a hidden gem known for its serene atmosphere and spiritual significance. The walk on bamboo bridge surrounding the mountain rewarded me with a peaceful and an impressive rock formation, making it a perfect place to soak in the tranquility of the Cambodian countryside. One of the most magical experiences was taking a boat ride to see the rare pink dolphins. As the boat glided through the calm waters, I held my breath in excitement—and then, there they were! These beautiful creatures surfaced gracefully, their pinkish hue glowing in the sunlight. It was a surreal and humbling experience to witness them in their natural habitat. To wrap up my adventure, I cranked up the thrill with a quad bike ride through Kampot’s rugged terrain. The dusty trails, muddy paths, and open fields made for an exhilarating ride, leaving me covered in dirt but grinning ear to ear. Kampot delivered the perfect mix of history, nature, and adventure, making it a destination I won’t forget anytime soon. I am going again at the end of 2025!!! The pagoda atop Bokor Mountain offers an unparalleled view of the sea and beach from the mountains. The panoramic view extends to the Vietnam border, providing a clear and breathtaking sight. A must-visit for anyone seeking stunning views and a serene atmosphere.
