🌼Another interesting place in Samut Prakan Province is Wat Phichai Songkhram, which has a long-standing legend.
⛳ Wat Phichai Songkhram is located in Pak Nam Subdistrict, Samut Prakan Province. It is an ancient temple from the late Ayutthaya period. It was originally called "Wat Pho" or "Wat Nok". The front of the temple is currently a market. At the end of the market on the opposite side of the temple is a pier to cross to Phra Samut Chedi. During the reign of King Rama II, Phraya Phichai Songkhram built a fortress to protect against enemies and renovated Wat Nok. When King Rama II traveled to offer Kathin robes, he gave the temple the name "Wat Phichai Songkhram".
🌟 The original Ubosot from the late Ayutthaya period was damaged and deteriorated over time, but it is still in good condition. The Fine Arts Department has now registered it as a national historical site. The new Ubosot built in the present era is a beautiful four-sided castle in front of the old Ubosot. In front of the old Ubosot is a pagoda from the Ayutthaya period decorated with beautiful decorations. By decorating Benjarong cups and bowls with stucco patterns as a necklace, with stucco lotus clusters decorating the 3-tiered pagoda.

Visit Wat Phichai Songkhram and admire the ornate pagoda.
🏘 Wat Phichai Songkhram was built around 1710 (B.E. 2253) and was originally called Wat Pho or Wat Nok. It was renovated during the early Rattanakosin period when Phra Phichai Songkhram brought troops to construct four fortifications within the temple grounds.
🙏🏽 Later, King Rama II visited the temple to offer royal Kathin robes and renamed it Wat Phichai Songkhram. Today, the fortifications have been dismantled, leaving only the names of various roads.
Highlights and significant features within the temple include:
🏚 The old ordination hall, showcasing Ayutthaya-era art, is registered as a national historic site. Inside, the principal Buddha image is in the meditation posture/enlightenment posture, along with several other Buddha statues on a raised base.
🏠 The new ordination hall, designed in a four-gabled pavilion style, reflects Rattanakosin-era art and architecture.
🛕 The pagoda is an ornate bell-shaped structure adorned with Benjarong porcelain, featuring stucco garlands and clusters of stucco lotuses decorating three tiers around the pagoda.
