Pay homage and make a wish to Luang Pho Tor at Phanurangsi Temple
🏡Phanurangsi Temple does not have a clear history of its construction. Some sources say it was built during the mid-Ayutthaya period. Initially, the temple was surrounded by fruit orchards, so it was named Wat Klang Suan (Temple in the Middle of the Garden). Later, Prince Phanurangsi Sawangwong discovered the temple in a dilapidated state and decided to restore it, renaming it Phanurangsi Temple.
The important and interesting features within the temple include:
🏠Ubosot (ordination hall): This hall is built in the Maha-Ut style, with no windows on the walls. The back wall has an oval-shaped opening. The sema stones are in the Ayutthaya style from the reign of King Borommakot, facing Bang Phlu Canal. The ubosot has three rooms and was restored during the reign of King Rama IV. It houses a revered Buddha image, Luang Pho Tor, which is highly respected by the people.
🎡Annual activities at the temple include the gilding of Luang Pho Tor for 9 days and nights in March and the candle casting ceremony for the Buddhist Lent for 9 days and nights in July.
