Wat Nang Takhian
📍Address: Khlong Khoen Subdistrict, Mueang Samut Songkhram District, Samut Songkhram 75000
A renowned temple in the Amphawa area, Wat Nang Takhian is located along the Mae Klong Canal and Nang Takhian Canal in Khlong Khoen Subdistrict, Mueang Samut Songkhram District. It is only 5 kilometers from the Samut Songkhram Provincial Hall and less than 10 kilometers from the Amphawa Floating Market.
"Wat Nang Takhian" is an ancient temple over 400 years old. Inside, there are sacred objects that visitors can worship and pray to, with many reporting their wishes being fulfilled. This temple is home to "Thao Wessuwan," believed to be the first of its kind in Samut Songkhram Province, with a history spanning 400 years. It is highly revered by both locals and visitors who come to pray for success in wealth, career advancement, and other aspirations.
The temple also features Phra Nang Suwan Apsorn Chom Thewi (the Great Giant Mother) by the canal, which is over 100 years old. In 2008, locals reported dreaming of a giant in the water near the temple. They collaborated to retrieve the statue, finding only the body with arms cradling a child, while the head was missing. Donations from devotees allowed for the creation of a new head, as seen today. Many people visit to pray to the Great Giant Mother for blessings in wealth, business prosperity, career success, and even for children.

At the beginning of the year like this, you have to pray!!
#ThisYearMustBeGreat #DontMissMuayThai Let's start the year with some Muay Thai.
Since we're here, let's worship at every temple said to be blessed with good fortune at #WatNangTakian in Samut Songkhram. After you've finished praying, don't forget to walk inside. There's a giant female deity said to be very sacred. Light incense and pray, then walk up to touch or embrace her, asking for a close-up blessing. 🙏🏻
On the day we went, a group tour bus took us to worship. This kind of thing is not to be missed. You have to try it yourself. 😊 #triptakesyouflyingtoprayforNewYearblessings

Famous temples in Samut Songkhram
Wat Nang Takian (Yak Mae Yai) is believed to have been built during the Ayutthaya period (original name Wat Theptharam). It is the place where Thao Wessuwan is enshrined and where Phra Nang Suphan Apsara Chom Thewi is located (a statue of a giantess who was drowned out of the river in front of the temple. Miraculously, someone dreamed that Phra Nang had come to them in a dream and told them to bring her out of the water. When they went to investigate, they found that there was really a statue of her underwater). Worship uses nine incense sticks and nine roses as well.
The sacredness or miracle when villagers came to ask for a blessing from Phra Nang Suphan Apsara Chom Thewi and their wishes were granted has become famous far and wide, causing many people to travel to worship and ask for blessings, especially in terms of luck.
📍Location: Wat Nang Takian is located on the banks of the Mae Klong Canal, Khlong Khaen Subdistrict, Mueang District, Samut Songkhram Province.
