Whale watching is a highlight here, especially during the rare winter months (June to September). These giant whales swim close to shore at Logans Beach to give birth and nurse their young. You can observe them from a dedicated whale-watching area or from the beach. Warrnambool town boasts beautiful parks like Lake Pertobe Adventure Playground, which offers a large playground and a variety of water activities. Alternatively, stroll along the beautiful beach and find a relaxing cafe for a cup of coffee. Warrnambool is a beautiful town with more to do than you might think, making it the perfect way to end your Great Ocean Road trip. A wonderful petting zoo. Reservations are required. I visited in 2023 and 2025, and the young staff were on hand to explain the animals to me. You can hold baby wombats and wallabies, feed emus, goats, and chickens, and even interact with snakes and other reptiles.
