Hakata Old Town’s Waka Hachimangu shrine
Located in Hakata’s Old Town in Fukuoka, Japan, Waka Hachimangu Shrine is a peaceful, small and humble place to pray for peace and it is known to expel bad spirits.
Although there are many Shinto shrines that fend off evil spirits, Waka Hachimangu Shrine is famous for its exorcism for bad luck, and many locals, and people within and outside Kyushu, come to seek protection and good fortune, especially at New Year.
The deities enshrined at Waka Hachimangu are Emperor Nintoku, Okimi No Mikoto and Sukhikona No Mikoto.
It is said if you visit the shrine three years in a row, the bad luck will be removed.
Goshuin stamps and amulets are available.
