Taichung's Hidden Countryside - Waipu Forget Worries Valley + Painted Rice Fields
Traveling in Taichung is more convenient with either a rental car or a private car service. This time, we opted for a private car service. The driver picked us up from Taoyuan Airport, then took us to Miaoli Tongluo Hakka Park and Hakka Courtyard, followed by Waipu to see the rice fields, Gaomei Wetlands for the sunset, and finally dropped us off at our hotel in Taichung.
Before heading to the painted rice fields in Waipu, the driver took us to Forget Worries Valley. As the car descended the mountain road, a vast expanse of rice fields came into view. The afternoon sunlight cast a gentle golden glow over the lush green fields, instantly lifting our spirits—truly living up to the romantic name 'Forget Worries Valley'! For city dwellers like us, constantly navigating crowded streets, this breathtaking rural scenery was utterly captivating. Even casual phone snapshots turned out like professional photos.
Continuing towards Water Flow East, the road narrowed, and we noticed many parked cars nearby. Initially, we thought this was the painted rice fields, but after asking a local shopkeeper, we learned it was the entrance to the Water Flow East Tung Blossom Trail. To see the painted rice fields, we needed to drive about 200 meters further up a small hill to the viewing platform, which also has a free parking lot. If you have more time, Waipu also offers flower fields for photo opportunities. Unfortunately, we were in a rush to catch the sunset at Gaomei Wetlands and couldn't visit them.
