I really enjoyed the freedom of driving along the winding mountain range and taking a break at a place I liked. The scenery of golden grasslands and snow-capped mountains was like a painting no matter where I looked. The cost of renting a car was cheaper than I thought if I negotiated, and thanks to that, I was able to travel at my own pace without being restricted by time or route. I would definitely recommend this to those who want to enjoy the nature and ruins of the Incas by driving with a driver instead of a tour.

I went to the salt flats in Maras on my own without joining a tour. To get there, take a van from Cusco to Urubamba and then walk about 3km to the salt flats. The salt flats are very large and the scenery is great. Going on your own will help you keep costs down, so if you have time, try going on your own.
