Every visitor to Taitung has likely visited this level crossing. While it might seem ordinary, it has gained widespread fame through media and online media coverage. However, there are quite a few people and vehicles here, so be mindful of safety when taking photos. Don't get injured just to take a photo of the level crossing—it's a waste of time.

The Blue-Painted Jieyou Sightseeing Train, a descendant of the Taiwan Railways' "Ordinary and Express" trains and "South-Link Star Sightseeing Train," has been restored and is now in operation, retaining many vintage features such as manually-opening windows, rotating electric fans, and green leather seats. Traveling along the South-Link Railway, it offers breathtaking views of the southeastern coastline and mountain scenery, as well as the vast expanses of the Pacific Ocean and the Taiwan Strait. If you're visiting Taitung, you can book just one trip. The train doesn't have air conditioning, so I chose it when it's cooler.

We arrived at Taitung Railway Station at 1:06 PM and rented a car to head to our first stop: Luliao Tribe Grassland Bento. We had pre-ordered a set menu of meat and taro leaf potstickers. After enjoying a delicious lunch, we continued south to Taimali, where we visited Risheng Road, the Sakuragi Hanamichi level crossing, and Fuxing Temple, the Earth God Temple with its beckoning cat! We then continued south to Duoliang Station, the most picturesque station! We then continued south to Dawu Rest Stop. After a rest, we returned north, passing by Taiwan Provincial No. 9 to take photos of a few art installations before returning to our hotel.

We arrived on a Monday afternoon, and there were quite a few people. The Taitung Tour Bus even made a special visit. There are designated parking spaces along the road. Walk up a short hill to the level crossing for photos. We also hired a security guard to look after everyone. For everyone's safety, there weren't any trains passing when we arrived, so I didn't get any beautiful photos of the train, the ocean view, and the level crossing. Boarding the new Ziqiang Express 3000 from Chishang to Taimali just to experience the unique blue of Taitung. Luckily, I got a seat by the window facing the sea. Early summer in Taimali, the air is filled with the distinctive Foehn wind of the East Rift Valley. Summer has truly arrived. Thankfully, as soon as I arrived at the station, I saw the Blue Skin Relief Train. Stepping out of the station, the vast blue ocean came into view. Under the scorching sun, I made a pilgrimage to the Sakuragi Hanamichi Level Crossing (Taimali Level Crossing), imagining a scene where Haruko and Sakuragi Hanamichi meet by chance. After taking some photos, I quickly fled. It was just too hot.

A quick trip to Taitung and Hualien for one day and one night. Take the train from Xizhi to Taitung at around 12 am, rent a car to soak in hot springs, see the sea, eat and drink. Take the train to Hualien in the evening to visit the night market and stay overnight, and take the train back to Taipei the next morning.
