Sedona is a stunning town nestled in some of the most breathtaking surrounds I’ve ever seen. Drivable from the Grand Canyon it’s the perfect place to relax after the intensity of the GC. A famous retirement town Sedona is famous for the way it was embraced nature and tried to curtail the growth of the city to fit in with its surroundings. The city itself has shopping, restaurants and lots of local craft stalls. It can be very busy in summer periods so it’s best to book everything in advance, especially any restaurants that offer views of the rocks. This is where I passed by on my way to the Grand Canyon from Phoenix, Arizona, USA. Actually, I stopped by on my way to the Grand Canyon, thinking only of it, but it was a really nice place. The red rocks and the earth color were unique, and later I heard that it was a land with good energy. They say that many tourists come here for meditation. I didn't take many pictures. There are so many amazing hikes to do in Sedona, but you won’t want to miss Soldier Pass Trail, Bell Rock, Devil’s Bridge, and Cathedral Rock. Be sure to bring plenty of water in a reusable water bottle, proper hiking shoes, and sunscreen, and NEVER leave behind any trash or damage the wildlife by going off-trail. For food, I recommend brunch or lunch at SaltRock Restaurant at the Amara Hotel, having a creekside meal at the L’Auberge patio, and trying everything possible on the menu at Pump House Station. To park at Sedona’s various hiking trails, you’ll need to purchase a Red Rock Pass. While there are tables inside, we ate on the terrace in front of the shop. Their ham sandwich is simply filled with tons of ham, cheese, and lettuce, but it's extra-large! They cut it for you, so it's easy enough for two women to share. At $12.50, it's reasonable for the US. ✨ It was a lovely place and delicious. Its strong "feminine" energy is said to bring healing and peace when visiting when feeling lonely or isolated. It also has well-maintained hiking trails, making it a popular spot for many tourists. And finally, we headed to Airport Mesa! Airport Mesa is located in the center of Sedona, a small hill offering beautiful 360-degree views and a particularly popular spot for watching sunsets. There is an observation deck at the summit, and it is also famous as one of the "Four Great Vortexes" where powerful energies converge. You can see Thunder Mountain, Boynton Canyon, Coffee Pot Rock, and more. It's also great that it's only a 10-minute climb from the parking lot. It was a place where I could instantly recharge with the power of the sun and the earth! I'm not sure if I can say I've conquered Sedona's "Four Major Vortexes," but I'm convinced! While most McDonald's signs feature golden arches, the one in Sedona is a distinctive teal. I researched it and found out the local government wanted to protect the natural beauty of the red rock town and didn't want the bright yellow to detract from the overall aesthetic. After negotiation, McDonald's agreed to change the arches to blue, making it the only one of its kind in the US! We even bought a blue Slurpee, which we wouldn't normally order at a regular McDonald's, just to take a photo. 😂 Highly recommend this spot for anyone visiting the Grand Canyon or Sedona. 📷 It's truly a unique little landmark. 🤩 📍 Getting There Address: 2380 W US Highway 89A, Sedona, AZ It's right on the main road, so you'll definitely see it if you're driving by.
