Since I booked my room through Amex Plat FHR, I had a USD 100 dining credit to use. Many hotels allow guests to use this dining credit for breakfast, but the St. Regis Qingdao has more restrictions, requiring the dining credit to be used at certain times in designated hotel restaurants, and The Carvery Steakhouse is one of them. When I called to make a reservation, the staff kindly reminded us to arrive early to catch the sunset, and they indeed arranged a window seat for us. Honestly, the view was unbeatable, offering a panoramic view of Qingdao's most beautiful coastline and famous landmarks, including the Badaguan Scenic Area, May Fourth Square, and the Olympic Sailing Center. The weather that evening wasn't the best, but the view from the window was still refreshing. The restaurant itself was quiet, spacious, and had a romantic ambiance. The only downside was that it wasn't facing the right direction to see the nighttime light show. As for the food, to be honest, aside from the porterhouse steak, the other dishes (like the pasta) were quite average, so I recommend ordering à la carte.

Getting engaged in a hotel is not the best of the ideas, but I couldn’t refuse the love of my life. The hotel was pricey, the view of the city was spectacular and the services as well. All the confort in one room with a view of the fireworks because of the coming CNY was amazing. The weather was not optimal to see further mountains so it was a bit disappointing, but at the end getting a nice coffee in the bathtub during the night is all you want. #newyearadventure #engaged
