[2025 Seattle Attraction] Travel Guide for The Gum Wall (Updated Apr)

Visiting the Gum Wall in Seattle is a must-see for any tourist in Seattle! Initially, I expected a yucky smell, as all those saliva left behind with the gum must have carried some bad breath. Surprisingly, there was no stench whatsoever. Seeing the wall covered in colourful globs of gum formed a weird but fascinating sight. While I wasn’t chewing any gum, I imagined it would be gross yet cool to add my own gum to the mix. I wondered how the tradition started, with people from all over the world leaving their mark here, in sufficient quantity to make it a community driven art piece. Overall, the Gum Wall was a quirky stop on my trip, and it was definitely memorable! #WinHKFlight #winhkflight I want to visit Hong Kong because of its rich history and culture! I'm excited to explore the historic streets of Central and Sheng Wan, to learn about the city's heritage at the Hong Kong Museum of History and to try traditional dim sum and Cantonese cuisine!

Just next to Starbucks, you'll see a line of people waiting. The taste is really great. After buying coffee, have a hot bread and enjoy the sunshine and sea breeze. It's so happy. Believe it or not? Hygienic or not? Well, the gum wall in Seattle is actually a tourist attraction. The wall is actually a brick wall that has been covered with all sorts of colourful gums that have been chewed on and people just paste them there. You can find this unique tourist attraction under Pike Place Market in downtown Seattle. Shockingly, you see many people hanging out at this area too. People are there busy taking selfish with the gums stuck to the wall and do be careful when you are there because you may have gum stuck to your shoes. The Gum Wall, Seattle - USA: This is a used chewing gum on a brick wall near to Pike Place market area. For me this is the weird thing indeed. However, it is a place for instagramable. I didn’t put more gum there though. Just take a photo shot is enough.

Located in Post Alley next to the market, the wall is a brick wall covered in colorful, stacked gum. Although it sounds a bit unhygienic, it is a small attraction full of creativity and personality, and it also attracts many tourists to make pilgrimage. When I walked into this alley, I could see from afar the colorful chewing gum densely covering the entire wall, creating a unique visual impact. If you look closely, you can even find that many people use chewing gum to collage their own names, love patterns, and some people even use it to "paint", making this wall full of art and fun. Although this attraction was essentially created by tourists "carelessly sticking it on", it has become a cultural symbol and was even named one of the top five most unsanitary tourist attractions in the world by USA Today. But what’s interesting is that this wall actually underwent a comprehensive cleaning in 2015, removing more than one ton of chewing gum, but it was soon covered with new chewing gum, creating a unique phenomenon of "demolished and reborn". Standing in front of the chewing gum wall, I felt a kind of "unintentional urban art". This wall is both chaotic and colorful, irregular and full of vitality, as if it is a huge graffiti work created by tourists from all over the world. You can get there by going down the stairs from inside Pike Place Market. It's difficult to find your way using a map app, so it's quicker to ask someone at the market. If the map shows you're very close but you can't find it, look around and you may see a sign that says "Gum Wall This Way." There are many people who want to take beautiful long-distance photos, and the road isn't particularly wide, so when it's busy you may have to wait a while to take a photo.

What a unique tourist attraction, really something weird to look at. Gum on wall and lots of it. When you sre there during busy times, you can even see some people buy gum and actually chew and put in on the wall. The place also smells like a mixed flavor of bubble gum. Entrance is from the side of the pike place market that faces the big signage near the corner with the tourist shop. Good to spend 5 to 10 minutes and take some photos. This is one of the famous tourist attractions and you can see from the pictures, people walking by constantly trying to take selfies and blow some gum and stick it out. It is definitely a bit gross but at the end of the day the walkway is wide and wasn't too crowded. #overseastravel Seattle's most visited attractions- Gum wall! It located in an alleyway in Post Alley under Pike Place Market in Downtown Seattle (just right below the Pike Place Market, less than 5mins walk). It's fun and cute to put a gum on it, but it's not very clean tho. Remember to bring your gum with you and wash your hands after. What a fun experience!
