Homestays !!
With increasing popularity of staycation across all age levels, the next stage of expectation has set to how to give that personal touch💆. Well, the answer lies inside the question itself; make them feel like staying in home 🏡. At one such place, we decided to spend our weekend getaway to Zhejiang province. They had nice setup of reception area that we would like to have in home with some snacks and books 📚. Then the room in the second floor had a perfect view of Taoguang temple🛕 mountain, where we did spend a day gossiping all the stories we ever knew 😝. The name is 杭州西湖三舍 and can be booked through trip.com quite easily !! #homestay

The Truly Hidden Light of Hangzhou
#holidayseason
Taoguang Temple, or the Temple of the Hidden Light/Wisdom in Humility, is tucked away in the hills near Lingyin Temple. Compared to its neighbor Yongfu Temple, Taoguang feels less grand but still captivating with its unique atmosphere. The temple features a long staircase that winds up to the main area and the climb feel both scenic and rewarding.
What struck me most about Taoguang Temple was the atmosphere. It felt damp and had mysterious charm, perhaps because it was about to rain when I visited. The lush greenery surrounding the area makes it feel like this place is trying to hide us away from other areas.
Though smaller, Taoguang Temple is worth exploring. I spent about 1–2 hours here, taking my time to soak in the peacefulness and admire the traditional architecture.
If you’re visiting Feilaifeng and nearby temples, Taoguang makes for a lovely stop. It’s included in the 45 RMB Feilaifeng entrance ticket, so there’s no extra cost.

🪶 Tips for visisting Taoguang Temple
1. Time Needed: 1–2 hours
The temple is smaller and less crowded than others nearby, making it ideal for a peaceful visit.
2. Wear comfortable shoes: There's a long staircase, so sturdy footwear is recommended.
3. Pack an umbrella or raincoat: If it’s a rainy day, the area can feel damp but atmospheric, enhancing its mysterious charm.
4. Bring Snacks and Water: There are no food or drink vendors within the temple area, so carry a small bottle of water and light snacks if needed.
6. Take in the Unique Atmosphere: The damp, slightly mysterious ambiance of the temple, especially during rainy or misty days, adds a unique charm.
7. Explore the architecture and quiet corners: The minimalist design and natural integration make it a relaxing spot to reflect.
8. Free Entry: Taoguang Temple is included in the 45 RMB Feilai Peak ticket. If you’ve already paid for Feilai Peak, no extra charges are required.
9. Accessibility: Taoguang Temple is located on a hillside, so the staircase may not be suitable for visitors with mobility issues. Plan accordingly.
10. Don’t Rush: Take time to sit and absorb the peaceful vibe. It’s not a grand temple, but its tranquil environment offers a unique, memorable experience.
