The Tangyue Archway Group is located about 6 kilometers west of She County. There are seven archways in total, one after another across the stone road in the countryside, with extraordinary momentum. Every April, the fields on both sides of the road are in full bloom, which makes the archway more flavorful. Not far from the archway is the Bao Family Garden, where you can see many bonsai. The seven archways in the Tangyue Archway Group are centered on the "Yi" archway, and are arranged from both ends to the middle in the order of loyalty, filial piety, chastity, and righteousness. The Bao Can Xiaoxing Archway, Cixiaoli Archway, and Bao Xiangxian Shangshu Archway are Ming Dynasty archways, and the Jiang Jiexiao Archway of Bao Wenling's wife, the Leshanhaoshi Archway, the Wu Jiexiao Archway of Bao Wenyuan's second wife, and the Bao Fengchang Xiaozi Archway are Qing Dynasty archways. Archways were built in ancient times to honor people with meritorious service and outstanding moral character, so each one is hard-won and has a touching story behind it. Don't miss these three memorial archways: the Bao Xiangxian Shangshu Archway, the Cixiaoli Archway, and the Jiexiao Archway for Bao Wenyuan's second wife, Wu. The Bao Xiangxian Shangshu Archway was first built during the Tianqi period of the Ming Dynasty. Bao Xiangxian made great contributions to the border defense and was favored by the emperor for three generations. His grandfather Bao Can also won the Xiaoxing Archway. The Cixiaoli Archway in the Ming Dynasty was built to show the kindness of fathers and the filial piety of sons. At that time, a father and son of the Bao family were captured by the rebels. One of them wanted to kill him, and the father and son fought to death so that the other could live. It was very touching. The Jiexiao Archway for Bao Wenyuan's second wife, Wu, was built during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. It was built for a Shanghai woman who became a widow at the age of 29. There are two ancestral halls next to the memorial archway group. The Bao family is a big family in Tangyue Village, and the Bao family is enshrined in the ancestral halls. Dunben Hall, also known as the Bao Family Branch Temple, commonly known as the Male Temple, is large in scale. There are inscriptions such as the Yitian Rules Monument and the Emperor Jiaqing's Edict Monument in the temple. Qingyi Hall, also known as the Bao Family Women's Temple, is very special. It was built specifically for the loyal and heroic women of the Bao family. The history of Huizhou men going out to do business and being away from home for a long time, and Huizhou women can only stay alone in their empty rooms until the end of their lives, can be vaguely seen through the temple. The Bao Family Garden and the Tangyue Archway Group are only 500 meters apart. After arriving at the archway group, it is also necessary to visit the Bao Family Garden. The private gardens of the Qing Dynasty are filled with exquisitely trimmed bonsai, among which the ancient banyan tree with a "southern style" that has been cultivated for more than 200 years is the "treasure of the town garden."
