A Trip to Tokyo, the district that connects history and the future, visit Takadanobaba
👍 Takadanobaba, located between Shinjuku and Ikebukuro, is a place name here. Takadanobaba, along with Ochanomizu and Kichijoji, is known as one of Tokyo's big three student districts, with many schools including Waseda University in the area, and young people, mainly students, can be seen everywhere.
🌟 The name Takadanobaba comes from a historical horse farm nearby, and it is one of the busiest train stations in Tokyo, with nearly 450,000 people departing from here every day to various parts of Tokyo. The green loop line that tourists take in Tokyo is the Yamanote Line, and Takadanobaba is part of it.
❤ The BIG BOX, built in 1974, is a landmark building in Takadanobaba, and half a century later, it is still the most popular place among locals. Many of the buildings in this area are from the 1980s, full of the marks of the era. The childhood anime 'Astro Boy', in which Astro Boy's birthplace is set in Takadanobaba, is commemorated by two beautiful murals inside the JR station, both in memory of the author Osamu Tezuka and to represent the cultural development of the area with comics.
✅ Speaking of Takadanobaba, we must mention Waseda University, which was founded in 1920, started as a specialized school, and now has about 50,000 students. The Okuma Memorial Hall is a landmark building of Waseda University, established in memory of the founder, Shigenobu Okuma. It is also one of Tokyo's early Gothic buildings.
🧳 Takadanobaba is also the place with the second-largest concentration of Chinese students in Tokyo, after Ikebukuro. Various Chinese characters in advertisements cover the buildings in the streets and alleys, and many Chinese restaurants are opened here, where you can definitely enjoy authentic Chinese cuisine.
