#Sofitel Hangzhou West Lake Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Hangzhou’s Classy & Chilled Dinner Spots 🥂
Hangzhou Sofitel Hotel West Lake Hotel.
The hotel is accessible (Just type Sofitel Hangzhou Westlake on your DiDi app)🚘. The meals are quite affordable (starters to the main course from 58¥-200¥). The staff members were friendly and professional.😊 some could speak and understand English (which makes the reservation and ordering process easy)✅. The restaurant is on the ground floor (no outdoor dining ). However, there’s a lobby bar and buffet options (from 230¥). The hotel also serves western food ( Burgers 🍔, salads 🥙, Pasta 🍝, Pizzas 🍕, salmon 🍣, beef 🥩, etc.) Be sure to make reservations to avoid any disappointments). The ambiance is quite classy and chilled (you might want dress to impress). The place is a couple, children and friends friendly. I would recommend it to any chilled dining spot fan or lover.

Sofitel West Lake Hangzhou, a free guide to overlooking the West Lake
The Sofitel West Lake Hotel in Hangzhou is located on the east side of the West Lake, just across a road in a prime location. Highly recommend the terraces on the sixth and seventh floors of the hotel, where non-guests can also overlook the beautiful scenery of the West Lake.
The hotel lobby has an elevator that goes directly to the sixth floor without the need for a room card. Route one: Turn left and walk to the end to reach the sixth-floor terrace. Route two: Turn right, see the sign for the Sky Garden, enter the stairwell, and go up to the seventh-floor terrace. There are fewer visitors on the seventh floor, and the view is even better.
The terrace faces west, so it's recommended to pick a nice day to check in, and you can enjoy two types of views: the blue sky with white clouds and the sunset. Bask in the sun, have a coffee, listen to the magpies quarreling, and enjoy the comfort.
Thanks to the privileges of the Accor Platinum membership, my stay was upgraded to a Sofitel suite. Unfortunately, the room does not have a lake view. Due to the low floor levels of the hotels around the West Lake, the view from the windows is generally obstructed by trees.
The executive lounge on the fifth floor has a small terrace that allows you to glimpse the lake and mountains through the shade of the trees. The view is not as good as the terraces above.

Nearly blending into the dust, the Sofitel Hotel at the prime location of Hangzhou's West Lake
The Sofitel West Lake Hotel in Hangzhou undoubtedly has a great location, just across the street from the lake's Yongjin Park, and West Lake Heaven is also within easy reach. However, it is almost impossible to witness the lake and mountains from the hotel, simply because the lakeside trees are too tall and dense. Of course, this is a common issue for all hotels around West Lake. Specifically for Sofitel, apart from the top-floor terrace and garden where you can catch a glimpse of a corner of the lake, there are no rooms facing West Lake at all.
Therefore, one must be open-minded. Rooms facing the noisy street side are not an option, leaving only rooms with a view of the residential buildings inside. One of the few privileges that Accor Platinum members can enjoy at this hotel is an upgrade to an executive room on the fifth floor. The advantage, according to the young man at the front desk, is that it's more convenient to go to the lounge, and that's about it.
After all, the hotel has been operating for many years. Although the rooms are still well-maintained, the aesthetic is clearly outdated, with a decor style similar to an old-fashioned state guesthouse or sanatorium, carrying a sense of solemnity.
The executive lounge is located at the end of the corridor facing West Lake. The offerings do not disappoint, whether it's afternoon tea or evening happy hour, both are very rich and not crowded. There is also a small outdoor garden where you can barely glimpse the sky and water through the shade of the trees.
The breakfast the next day is praiseworthy. It can serve as an example for many five-star hotels that use cost control as an excuse for their perfunctory offerings. With a similar variety of meals, it shows a different kind of care. Either highlighting the characteristics of the Jiangnan region, with Wenzhou sticky rice, Longyou rice cake, Suzhou-style noodles, sweet rice wine dumplings, beef vermicelli soup, etc., or adding a touch of finesse, like a buffet salad with not only common green leaves, tomatoes, and corn kernels but also less common yam or water radish. The same fresh-squeezed juice becomes richer with the addition of avocado. Such small details instantly brighten the experience.
In summary, it is more suitable for first-time visitors to Hangzhou who must stay around West Lake.

In Hangzhou!! A hotel with an excellent view of the West Lake!!
This time, coming from the Northeast to Hangzhou, while citywalking with friends, we booked this hotel by the West Lake - 'Sofitel West Lake Hangzhou'. The main thing is that it's so close to the West Lake, just a street away from Yongjin Gate, and right beside the road downstairs is the tree-lined Nanshan Road.
The deluxe room we stayed in had a welcoming dessert and fruit plate that were thoughtfully prepared, and the room's layout was clear and fluid, with soft lighting, giving a very comfortable sense of space.
Even the shower amenities are large bottles of LANVIN, which felt silky smooth when used during the bath!
After checking in, my buddy and I went to the hotel's Yongjin Pavilion Chinese restaurant, with an average cost of 100+ per person. I recommend trying the mousse pumpkin and abalone sauce stone pot taro, the golden pumpkin
ole{pumpkin} paired with a hint of milk fragrance, silky smooth texture, and the moment it enters your mouth, your taste buds are fully awakened!
After dinner with my buddy, we went to the Diamond Lake View Terrace on the top floor, especially in the evening, you must come here to see the lively West Lake and the sunset-lit Leifeng Pagoda, which is especially healing for our hearts!!
Oh, and their breakfast variety is also plentiful, with both Chinese and Western styles. Especially the porridge, noodles, and pastries, there's everything you could want, and after eating, we're ready to greet a day full of vitality!!
